Should I buy Logitech G920 or Thrustmaster TX series?
My first time at sim, never played driving games but really wanna get that authentic experience of driving something like a real car. Thinking of buying Forza 7 for PC. Now the G920 can be had for $250 on Amazon and the stick shift is an additional $60 US or so. But the stick shift looks very cheap, too short too small and plasticky.

However the actual wheel and pedals on the logitech are significantly cheaper than TM by like over $100. And on Amazon i saw a couple say don't buy TM because the wheel dies in 2 years time.

So which would you guys go with and why? how big of a difference is there between the logitech and the TM? in terms of actual quality, authenticity and longevity?

I read the pedals on the logitech is better but some say the wheel of the TM is better? how so? anybody care to explain the differences between both? and why the TM is so much more expensive?

If the extra money is worth it then I will spend the extra. But it needs to be worth it I know right off the bat the $389 TM looks more real while the G920 ps4 looks more childish. And what if this belt thingy stuff vs the gears in the wheels? how much better does the TM 300 or whatever feel compared to the logitech?

Anyone want to get technical and explain the differences to me? if you guys swear by a SIGNIFICANT step up in quality of the TM and the double price point justification then I will strongly consider putting the extra money.

Jusr read your full post heres my take on it. Had the TX a while now and don't 100s of hours on it. It still feels like new. While my g29 pedal base cracked in no time. the TX pro pedals are a world away better than the g29 pedals. if my TX wheel fails I just buy a new wheel. if the base fails I buy a new base. Believe me go for the TM set. I also have the TM H shifter which is like using a feel car shifter.

The build quality between the Logitech and TM wheels are pretty significant, towards TMs favor of course. In terms of actual difference, I've never had a TX wheel but I know my T300 feels way superior to the Logitech wheels. The beltdriven ffb has a much higher fidelity, it's smoother and got more strength to it. I can only assume this applies to the TX series as well.

I haven't tried the Logitech stick myself but from what I've heard its build quality is pretty mediocre. The TH8A shifter is pretty much the go-to stick for both entry-level and intermediate enthusiasts.

However, since this is your first wheel and racing experience (I wouldn't classify this as a sim btw, more a simcade if anything, but that is another discussion not to be had here. EDIT: Although I haven't played PCars2 yet so I shouldn't really comment on that at this point) I wouldn't worry too much about it. The Logitech wheels albeit inferior to the TM wheels in general, are great beginner wheels.

They are usually also quite easy to get rid of you're in for doing an upgrade down the line. (The used markets for these wheels is pretty healthy, depending on where you live of course)

What's your budget? I purchased a TMX Pro from Gamespot in the US for $250, which includes the T3PA pedals. I'm not a fan of Logitech's helical gears. Way too noisy compared to a belt system.

My budget is $600 USD

But I am afraid of Thrustmaster I read their quality control is garbage and most units die in days, weeks or months. Could it be because some people don't turn on the fan?

Well, mostly its only people who have problems who write about it, so I feel that it might give a bit of a skewed impression. For every guy having a problem with their wheel there could be 100 other people with a wheel that works flawlessly. Although to be fair, I've also seen that a fair bit of people have had problems with their wheel so there is definitely some risk involved. I took the leap of faith with my T300 and so far it seems to be working great after months of (ab)use.

I too had to swap out my g29 twice because of an inherant problem with the wiring

i have had the g29 since the day they came out and no problems at all , and i know it comes down to what you want and a good warrenty . when in doubt try and get a extended warrenty.
simple to remember is, this is a day and age were things are built to be replaced. everything thing and everyone will have good and bad experiances.
best of luck on what you choose

My mental budget for a wheel was lower, so I got a G27 a while back. There was no way I was paying TM prices for a peripheral, even a great one (though I did pre-order my Oculus Rift, which is a whole other level of immersion). I've used the G27 for a while now with no issues whatsoever. I would have assumed Logitech would have only made improvements with their newer wheel, but it sounds like it might have some issues from others' posts.

I would go for the cheapest Fanatec Bundle and save up for a shifter. The only problem with that is that the superior "new" elite base is only avaiable in the EU :(
My CSR with the CSR Elite pedals(load cell) is four years old and still running strong. Have the old crappy Fanatec shifters and the only one that works is the sequencial shifter.

One thing I will say about Logitech is there warranty is great,my g29 after a few months felt a bit notchy so got in contact with them and they sent a new wheel and pedals out and didn't even ask for te old set back, tuns out I'd accidentally bumped up the ffb setting right up lol.
Have heard some horror stories about Thrustmasters warranty making you jump though hoops though.

Buy the cheapest wheel and pedals you can if it's your first time and see if you like it. Once you do, really talk to me and I'll hook you up.

That'll be the t150 wheel set then?
