No AI option to defend against boarding crew
People are abusing the stuff out ot this broken mechanic. Why is there no AI option to "attack intruders"?

Hi Captain, you can unlock more advanced AI commands with LAB research.

An example of your most basic anti-boarder AI would look like this.
Friendly Room HP < 100% | Target Condition Room
(your crew will automatically attack enemy crew)

If you have crew with special abilities such as Critical Attack, Cryo Blast, Poison Gas. You can also add the line.
None | Use Special Ability
(the ability will automatically trigger when an enemy is in the same room)

Keep in mind this is only the most basic anti-boarder AI.

Thanks for the awnser.

This happened a few times now. I got that command you mentioned first at all of my crewmembers. Unfortunatly, i did not invest enough money to get heroes with the abilities you mentioned second - but the enemy had em.

My 5star crewmembers at same rank just went there, tryed to repair the room, what they were not able to. They ignored the enemy crew completely, even when i sent em there manually. Could i have run into cheaters?

If not, it just felt wrong - there was absolutely nothing i could have done to win this fight.

Or is it just like, i need to invest a load of money to get the heroes to even be able to enjoy this game?

I just invested a small ammount of money to appreciate the game, but it should be enough to at least be able to compete with others.

Or do i get better commands beond lvl5?
Your crew will automatically repair and defend your rooms. Different crew lend themselves to different roles. Gunners, repair, defenders, shield etc... They can also be trained and inexpensively equipped accordingly.
It sounds like you ran into someone with crew equipped and trained for boarding.

Python 2.0 will become available with a level 6 Lab and python 3.0 with a level 8 Lab.

I am using boarders. and they are realy weak at higher lvls. After they teleport to the enemy ship they freez for a second and can't do anything. A good defence team can kill them in that second they cant take any action.

So puting defenders with high attack and dmg/cc abilities in/near often boarded rooms, will usaly make the teleport user angry every fight (thats beeing me ^^ ).

I hate that teleport freez mechanic - but i understand why it is in the game.

i guess the trick is to teleport them into rooms that are usually empty?

So, what is happening here is a result of how the game itself works. Lets say there is an enemy that teleported into your power generator. As you may have noticed, the basic power room can have 3 crew members in it. Have you noticed how then you move a crew into a room, they dont just stand in the middle of it? They will go to one of the three slots for crew that room has depending on if you have crew in those spots already. Its kinda wonky, but the game recognizes a slot in a room as "occupied" once that crew member STARTS moving to that room. So if you have a crew that starts moving to a power room, and is waiting on the lift to reach him, while a second closer crew is then ordered to go into that room, if the second crew member reaches the room first, it will occupy the middle, or second, slot instead of the first once since the guy waiting on the lift already has it, even tho hes not there yet.

Now if you could follow that, when an enemy is in your power room, and your (room < 100%, target that room) ai kicks in your crew member starts walking to that room. The enemy is already in position standing there. Your crew member is going to the first slot of that room. This means that depending on the side your crew enters that room from, it may have to walk across the entire room WHILE BEING ATTACKED by the enemy that was already inside it until your crew reaches its "slot" in that room, at which point it will start attacking the enemy.

Ways to avoid this include items like mines and c4, or things that go off instantly like crew member abilities. For instance, if you have a crew member that has the "critical attack" ability, you can make an AI command something like (current room has enemy crew) then (use special ability). This will make it so the moment your crew enters that room with an enemy already set up inside it, their ability activates, which is an instant damage attack in this case. This is how you see people move a crew into a room and it just instantly explodes the enemy that was there.

Basically, this game is balanced solely because you can pretty much do anything with the AI. It is by no means easy. I don't dare to touch my AI or my ship layout for this reason haha.
