I'm truly sorry that you encountered this issue, Even after weeks spend trying to reproduce this issue we never managed to do so, and even though its rare (~1:1000) is super annoying issue. There does not seem to be any pattern which could lead to it. Due to the way we serialize saves its very hard to even guess as "domino effect" leads to whole save flashing red for the loader, and the only thing we can do at this point without any reproducible case was to design whole system and all its parts totally from the scratch for the sequel, and who knows, maybe use of the new system would give as some hint as to what was wrong with system in T1, and possibly offer a way to fix it.
We were suspecting as well some external tools so if you could drop us email with name of your
- Antivirus, (antiviruses have access to the files and may block changes, file creation etc)
- OS version, (similarly to antiviruses os is the one which decides which resource are available to the game, how files are handled etc)
- do you ever play with steam offline? (its possible that steam save cloud influences sytuation)
- and roughly how many games you have played before this happened (its possible that the issue is linked to some long run degradation)
any and all answers could be potentially helpful.
the best way is to send them directly to bugs@muhagames.com
Thanks!
Its a real shame that the corruption problems still happen 5 years later. My mate and I were loving this game after buying it for Christmas 2023 just to have this happen to both our multiplayer and now our single player games. Its a shame because it was fast becoming our favourite game.
