I'd say a similiar feature would be pretty nice to have for newly researched ressources. If I e.g. research moonstone, I sometimes look for quite a long time on big maps, only to find out that it was just right next to map camp.
There is also just a very slightly visible border of the world map and you can scrool way out further, making searching a bit tedious.
Since the movement of the enemies is animated and stops every interaction with the game world, but you have no feedback for that if they are offscreen (and you "just can do anything for some reason" [description of feeling]) it would be cool to be able to acutally see them all on one screen. Or something simliar.
Also a better ressource overview (not neccecarly map based) maybe.
I think that still something that could be improved, though not with a bigger overwiev map like other strategy games.
It would also be nice if the fog over discovered-but-out-of-view areas weren't quite so dense. It can make it hard to distinguish between explored and unexplored areas (although that can be easily worked around by switching to resource view, since you generally only know about resources in explored areas) or to see what the terrain in an explored area was (which is not so easily worked around).
It is strangely difficult to tell land and water apart, especially at night.
