God Tier Discussion
I would love some input from some other players on where they place gods in the grand scheme of things from 1-8. My list is more of an overall strength (imho) list. I think it would generate some good discussion, maybe i'll learn some ways to play i haven't considered.

Base your tiering relative to the level bonuses for each god and their deity quest and 'special' encounters.

disclaimer: i currently play on the "difficult" preset after clearing all gods on normal. i'm slowly incrementally working my way to deity (1 win with each god before i progress at each difficulty). So some of the higher difficulty players opinions may differ.

Also: in many cases i've still not completed all the deity quests and random god events. so please help me fill the gaps!

Anyway...here it is.

1. PERUN

1. Supreme Start: Your villagers can gather, craft, and gain experience points faster.
2. Blazing Powers: Your villagers gain +1 armor, +2 ranged damage, and +2 damage.
3. Thundering Wisdom: Start with three additional advancement points.
4. Building Flash: Your settlement starts with a Smithy, a Watchtower, and a Pallisade already built.
5. Lightning Strikes: Start with +5 health for all villagers and two rare crossbows (Perun's Arrowbearers) in your inventory.

Deity Quest: 5 Skull physical challenge that gets you top tier Gems/Metals and an Orc Fighter
Random encounters: Praising perun in the lightning storm event... others?

This guy is just broken in my opinion. every tier is highly impactful. He represents a massive amount of turn saving in terms of what he gives. He's the only god that gets the 'triple' bonus at level 1. His level 3 is *insane* it represents more than 50 turns worth of investment potentially more at higher difficulty and gives you alot of avenues to get research (and his first tier is still only 10 points). 4. is very strong although i haven't unlocked it, its a massive amount of resources and time saving (even for the most basic editions of the structures). and 5. is also very strong. +5 hp is potentially life saving and perun's arrow bearers are the highest tier of crossbow in the game and can instantly win you some fights with high value snipes.

His biggest weakness is probably his deity challenge which i would imagine is borderline impossible on higher difficulties with stack size limits unless you went orc/dwarf. As far as i can tell his challenges are also not incredible, however its probably all in compensation for his extremely strong god bonuses.

2. MOKOSH
1. Green Fingers: Your villagers are faster at gathering.
2. Mother's Helpers: Your villagers get a +1 bonus to crafting.
3. Plentiful Foods: An extra food resource in the village is guaranteed.
4. Living off the Land: Your settlement starts with a Pasture already built.
5. Mother's Touch: Your villagers get a +4 bonus to health and are able to craft faster.

Deity Quests: Gives a Bugay (middle tier demon) from memory it wasn't too difficult a challenge.

Events: ?

I originally had mokosh at #1 until i discovered perun's level 3. Mokosh represents in my opinion the ultimate turtler and crafter. Extrapolating from higher difficulty players turtling is a big part of higher difficulties when things start to go south. Her extra resource is *always* grain which means she gains a bonus to attract humans on her patches and pastures, again helping the turtling cause. Her first 4 levels are all craft and gather centric which is the primary goal of the game to help you advance your power level. Her level 5 is +4 hp buff to all villages joining the party unlike perun's which i believe is only your starting party.

3. HOROS
1. Nightcrawlers: During night turns, all your villagers get +1 bonus to damage and +2 ranged damage.
2. Shadow Dwellers: Your villagers get a +2 bonus to stealth.
3. The Eyes of the Beast: Your vision during night turns is as good as during day turns.
4. Night Lord's Command: One of your starting villagers is the Nightstalker, a loyal servant of the moon.
5. The Moon Path: Expeditions gain 2 additional movement points during night turns.

Deity quest: 4 Skull challenge with strigas - earns you a master striga

Events: ?

Horos is very strong. but in my opinion its his level 2 that is most valuable not his night vision. Having +2 stealth means that you excel at sneak and hunt challenges as well as being able to very reliably stand up in fights with the counter offence and first action you get in each challenge respectively. Sneak and Hunt will get you through the vast majority of 4 skull challenges outside of Rock Trolls. Don't get me wrong Night Vision is good, but its the kind of bonus you want for someone who is aggressively scouting the map and in higher difficulties you're typically more tethered to your base so you're more likely to use it for proactively getting favourable challenges over risky fights. His level 4 is a drawback imo. The nightstalker is a goblin that replaces a starting villager and in my opinion isn't necessarily an upgrade.

4. SVAROG
1. Sun's Blessing: Guided by the power of the sun's return, your villagers gain experience faster.
2. Righteous Convictions: Your villagers get a +2 bonus to Speech and +3 to Attractiveness.
3. The Shield of the Sun: Under your protection, there is a reduced chance of your village being attacked during day turns.
4. Solar Vision: Your village starts with and advanced watchtower already built.
5. Path of Light: Expeditions gain an additional movement point.

Deity challenges: Fight a 5 Skull level 30 dragon which will give you a svazorek minion (Average Demon)

Events: ?

Svarog is here for 2 reasons, level 2 and level 5. The Speech and attractive bonus is massively helpful in social challenges giving you alot of options early game and the extra movement point is alot more useful that it appears. The majority of tiles you'll traverse in thea require 2 movement. This bonus makes svarog the only god that has access to an always on 8 movement with food bonuses. it definitely adds up.

5. MORENA
1. Basic Education: Your villagers are clever and so they research faster.
2. Know thy Enemy: Your villagers get a +2 bonus to Folklore and +3 to Animal Kinship
3. Advanced Education: Your villagers get a +1 bonus to Medic and +2 to Tactics.
4. The Pen, Mightier than the Sword: You receive six basic gadgets to aid you in your struggles.
5. Through Wisdom to Victory: Start with 2 Advancement Points.

Deity Quest: Gives a poludnica (fully equippable demon - good quality!)

Events: Recruit Strigas (the women protect the men event)

Morena has an interesting combination of stat bonuses, but earns her 4 for her level 5 which is the "perun-lite" starting research bonuses. These bonuses just save so many turns and give you alot of early game strategy i value them highly. I haven't achieved level for so i cannot speak for the bonuses from the 'basic gadget's. As for the stat bonuses, they don't really directly help you in any of the challenges they affect, they all have their uses tactically (morena's flavour appears to be tactician) but lack the direct applications of the higher tier gods.

6. LADA
1. The Power of Hope: Your people gather and research faster.
2. The Power of Love: Your villagers gain +2 Will, +1 Intelligence, and +3 Health.
3. Beauty and Bounty: Your people gain +3 Attractiveness and 50 food so they are always ready to celebrate!
4. Material Girl: Start with additional advanced equipment including weapons and armor.
5. Irresistible Vibe: An old yet very wise Sage joins your village to spread the word of Lada.

Deity Quest: ?

Events: Recuit Dwarven bandits (bandit robbery event)

I may have to revise my position on Lada based on a thread i read earlier today based on the Sage being an additional and not a replacement villager, this would likely push her as high as #3. Ladas flavour seems to be a god of celebration and beauty. Her bonuses are certainly usesful level 2 and 3 give a combination of stats that strongly favor social and intelligence challenges which are often challenges most members of a human party can perform well with a 'little push'. I'm yet to reach level 4 so i can't speak for the bonuses weapons and equipment.

7. ZORYA
1. Stellar Education: Your people are driven to succeed and impress their Goddess. They gain experience faster.
2. The Warrior's Path: Your villagers get a +1 bonus to damage and +2 ranged damage.
3. Born Tough: Your villagers get +3 armor.
4. The Gift of the Stars: Your people start with one additional advanced weapon item.
5. Blessed Children of the Stars: One of your starting villagers is the Son of Zorya.

Deity Quests: Fight a large beast pack (boars, bears and a SUPER boar.) Get a goblin beast master

Events: Recruit boars (the boar hunter event)

Zorya. A fighting oriented god in a game that doesn't reward you enough for taking risks in fighting. My ranking of zorya may be wrogn because she is a fairly specialised god with regards to fighting (then again all she has on perun is the +3 armor and some extra weapons). In my opinion fighting is underincentived in thea and you're better off excelling at other challenges to preserve your manpower. Zorya's redeeming quality is probably the boar event. boars are a tanky source of blunt damage and have good carry weight due to their strength - the event is relatively common so you can recruit many.

8. VELES
1. The Path of Wisdom: Your villagers are committed to wisdom and so they research faster.
2. Strong-willed: Your villagers get a +2 armor bonus during Disease, Curse, and Intellect challenges.
3. Small Magic Tricks: One of your villagers is an elder Sage, wider and more experienced than any youth.
4. Elder Blood's Blessing: Your villagers gain a +1 bonus to Magic.
5. Death's Touch: Your people are touched by the unloving and they can all deal Poison damage.

Veles just feels like he got the stick. He gets a variety of bonuses to less popular challenges, and his bonus to magic is too weak to effect the sage. Magic also in my opinion demands that you go demons which is probably the hardest race to effectively farm and place structures for. I haven't reached 5 so i'm not sure how strong his poison passive but i doubt it will save the rather weak combination of bonuses he has. He was the first god I played, so at least he has a place in my heart :steamhappy:

Deity Quest: ? one playthrough

I'm not going to add anything but I really dislike calling Perun "broken" as it was meant by the Dev to be Ultra-God tier as compared to other gods.

nice info!

Veles divine quest.
you get to fight an mad elf (the first to walked ever the plains of thea) and you can get a orc shaman (dont be a frait to lissen to the snake.)

Event: i think the orc you stuble upon and can agree to work together to open a fault. Can give you a orc worker. just dont fight them and keep working together, and when asked to do a unit exchange, pick the blue option that sais "no my people are my own." and she will dump a unwanned orc worker on you party. (they make decent fighters.)

Lada divine quest.

help out a town of goblins that has been dominated/charmed in to slavery by water nimphs
(only did di quest once) You can talk your way out of it get a holy new tree and plant it. if you cut the root so it only suport lada instead of charing her power with the other gods she will be come head of the gods. I got a ghost that way.

The Wikia site for Thea list the divine quests in a very detailed fashion and is worth checking out if you don't mind spoilers.

Does anyone have the numbers for Vele Level 5 bonus? I'm currently playing as him but it'll be a whiöle until I get there.

I don't have that much playtime under my belt but from what I've seen so far it's a decent assement.
What irks me a bit is that +skill/stats bonuses vary so much in worth. Combat stats are worth less because the damage/armor values on items are a lot higher than any other stats. As for skills Stealth is a lot more valuable than Animal Kinship and Folklore.

I think Lada is a top-tier deity; the devs have said she's designed to be one.

In general, I think all the gods have enough tricks up their sleeves to the point where none is really bad.

Where is this? I've been going through the entire site the last 30 minute or so, and I still couldn't find it.

Hmm I found it through the "Recent Wiki Activity" page iirc.

Let me look it up: Link [thea-the-awakening.wikia.com]

Here's a dev post from a while back about Perun and Lada.
Originally posted by Khash Firestorm:
yes, Lada and Perun are special gods, which are not unlocked from the start ... and you have to meet certain criteria to make them available. Therefore they have some extra boost to reward (the) player (for) work toward those targets.
happyscrub Dec 17, 2015 @ 6:47am
ZORYA + Warrior start is good for turtling strat (which is strong) because you do nothing but fight challenges.
Jtime Dec 17, 2015 @ 1:08pm
Thanks for the Link + additions guys, I'll try to do some editing after work and maybe add a "Excels at: " section for each god like the zorya warrior start happyscrub metnioned.

Morena seemed like the most interesting choice for cooperating with the Orcs, thematically. But I'm not sure how to play her. The +tactics doesn't seem to carry you into late-game as well as Lada's bonuses for social challenges. Tier 5 might be really good, but that takes forever. Tier 4 probably depends a lot on random luck. It would be nice to start with Warriors and generate gathering tools at the start of the game. I'm not sure if "tools" only means craft and gather tool types, or if it's a translation of a much more general word.

Hey there.

As you might not know, rewards for divine quests actually vary depending on the choices you made in the story, so your list is not entierly accurate.

E.g. in my current 300% playthrough with lvl 1 Svarog, I did get an insanely strong dwarven Smith (huge strength and HP, 20+ in crafting, and many other intresting stats).
David Apr 28, 2016 @ 10:32am
1) Horos
2) Perun
3) Veles
4) Lada
5) Svarog
6) Morena
7) Mokosh
8) Zorya

In higher difficulties, you don't have time to gather. The best part of Horos is actually the boost to movement, to trigger more events. The movement trait alone puts Svarog above the other 3 weak gods.

Veles's poison (it is +2 damage) damage and magic traits are amazing. It becomes very easy to recruit the elf wanderer as Veles.

Got some info to share;

The 6 gadgets are only decent (at best), not comparable to other extras. You can be lucky and get some you need or want but it is not that good as they are only low tiers. Stuff you can get from monsters :p

The extra weapon from zorya also isnt that good, i once got a sword with +6 dmg and +6 shielding but only 1, and so i say meh.

Last but not least: Ladas Equipment bonus.
You get 2 or 3 items, it can sometimes help a bit (scaled armor with 15 armor and 4 shielding for example) but its the same with the gadgets, you have to be lucky to get something good.

Overall i would say that Ladas and Morenas extras simply rely too much on RNG to actually be good.

The starting buildings also arent that good in my opinion (only compared to ohter extras again).

Peruns buildings give only +1 which is pretty useless (wall with 1 armor is actually nothing, and + 1 sight also is useless. The smithy might be ok with the crafting bonus as it also provides some good quality items in early game without having to research the building)

Havent had the pasture yet but well... Anyone who cant get the wood for it...

The advanced watchtower might be ~ if it gives +2 (dont have it yet), but its also not that good.
