PS: I also forgot to mention (even though it's probably obvious) the order of the materials i mentioned matters in creating the best items. If it says 4 Dragonbone, 5 Mithrill on my list, you need to put the the Dragonbones in the primary slot and the Mithrill in the secondary slot.
I agree with xlnt4real that you'd better make the Obsidians. Your topic is "very best items" and not "highest damage weapons". The stealth (not tactics?) is way better than the small damage gain.
The Shiny Skullcrusher (Moonstone War Hammer) adds Magic, which is very useful in a number of different card minigame challenges. It also allows for the option to perform a Banishment Ritual (Hex) when initiating combat with undead. Banishment Ritual is a quick way to gear everybody up, as it results in a lot of decent loot being dropped.
The Giant's Toy (Obsidian War Hammer) adds Stealth, which is primarily beneficial as "First Action" during Fight challenges and Offense during Sneak challenges.
Magic
Magic is a rare and sought after skill. It is used in HEX challenges, but can also help you resolve many situations in unexpected ways.
Offense --------------- (Hex)
Defense -------------- (-)
Confuse -------------- (Social)
Counter Tactic ----- (-)
Counter Offense --- (Intellect / Tactical)
Protect Ally --------- (-)
Support Ally -------- (Physical / Sneak)
First Action --------- (Cure Sickness)
Get Closer ---------- (Hex)
Stealth
Stealth is your ability to move quietly, unseen by your foes, it is boosted by DEXTERITY and used in many challenges, but primarily SNEAK.
Offense --------------- (Sneak)
Defense -------------- (-)
Confuse -------------- (-)
Counter Tactic ----- (-)
Counter Offense --- (Hunt / Sneak)
Protect Ally ---------- (-)
Support Ally --------- (-)
First Action ---------- (Fight)
Get Closer ----------- (Sneak)
not even considering the staff / pike weapons.
but as others noted i often prefer the non top dmg with stealth of magic. 2H axe with 42+20 leach and 4 or 6 stealth even renders dwarfs into one hits. (and very reliable at that with >50% of the team with good stealth)
Yes i noticed that as well. The 1H Axe is very op with its 46 damage... Combine it with a good shield and you have a monster of a fighter and it outperformes most other weapons in comparison anyways.
There is basically no reason to use a 2H sword. Since Axe+Shield give you better stats in every regard.
And the Staff, Pike and 1H Club seems very weak as well in comparison to the axe.
The bonus abilities of these weapons don't really seem to make up for the enourmous damage loss in the endgame.
And the 1H Sword is really only a good choice if you have a weak character that needs special protection and can't carry a lot. But franky the 7 defense you get on the 1H sword, don't make up the about 30 damage more you get out of the 1H Axe.
I think they still need to balance a little bit here.
PS: @species
i specified what "best" means in this terms of this topic in the first post right at the beginning. And i wrote that the damage resp. defense is what i take into account.
There is tecnically no "best" item, since it allways depends on what you just need in your group.
if your group lacks intelligence you might want to craft an entirely diffrent weapon/armor.
so this topic is about the highest value damage and defense.
And on a sidenote don't underestimate having a high Magic-Skill. This gives you plenty of options in many events, opens more dialoges and give you the ability to use hex challanges against enemies and more. its very useful actually
But still, I prefer the stealth, since that's the only stat that helps me fighting dragons without taking hits by using first action from stealth. And fighting those dragons were my biggest problem before I heavily invested in stealth, not the other challenges.
Where did you find this info?
Also, how would people assess Spirit Hammer v. these hammers listed here?
Ah, so he just added stuff up from the game. I thought there was a separate master list where all this info is compiled together.
