Slavic and Non-Slavic creatures in game
I bought the game on the day it came out and clocked some 37 hours on it since. Loving it. Particularly that it's currently probably the only strategy out there focused on Slavic mythology. But herein lies my complaint. Why are then so many non-slavic monsters in there?

Firstly it seems no fantasy game these days can do without the tolkien-esque dwarves, elves and orcs. Even though there could be some Slavic similar counterparts found for all of these. "Vila" (female) or "Vilin" (male) as woodland fairies in place of elves, "shkrati" in place of the dwarves and various "ajdi", "vedomci" and other giants and wild men in place of ogres and orcs.

But particularly out of place are "zombies", since the "zombie" folklore originates from the Caribbean. There are many Slavic counterparts of living dead, walking corpses and other should-be-dead-but-are-not creatures. Particularly the vampire or "upyr" mythology is very rich in the Slavic world...

Why use the tired fantasy cliches if you've already ventured into the exciting and rich world of the fairly unknown (to most of the western world) Slavic mythology that has a lot to offer from the folklore of each of the many Slavic nations. Why not put more of these in and explore this wonderful world some more?

Here are a couple more mythology creatures that could possibly be used from Slovenian mythology:

"Vesna" (female) or "Vesnik" (male): Gods and godesses of spring that live in mountain palaces and visit the valleys in spring. People can learn their future if they listen to their conversations, but mustn't get caught.

"Rojenica" or "Sojenica": Women, usually 3 at a time that tell a newborn's destiny, one tells the good luck, one the bad luck and one tells death. Could be very good when getting the event of kids growing up in game and choosing their profession.

"Kurent": the god of joy and fun and drinking and parties, usually chases winter away with his loudness and dancing

"Kresnik": a shapeshifting, white-magic, protector of people from evil creatures.

"Vedomec": the enemy of Kresnik, a rough wild man/giant with a bushy beard and eyebrows. Vedomci often fight each other, but if they catch a human at night they'd skin him and eat his flesh, then play with the bones.

"Ajd": a giant so big he can carry people in his pockets. Big, strong and relatively stupid.

"Chatezh" (Čatež) is a drunkard goat-like forest creature that looks like an old bearded man with horns and goat legs, who likes to scare people walking through forests until they get lost.

Various dwarves:
"Shkrat" (Škrat) or "Shkratec" is a forest dwarf
"Perkmandelc" is a mine or natural cave dwarf
"Dimek" is a grey dwarf (named after "dim", grey smoke)
"Lesnik" is a tree dwarf
"Shetek" (Šetek) is a dwarf that protects people's homes

...all these dwarves are relatively tiny creatures, not like Tolkien's big, rough, fighting dwarves.

Hope any of these inspire you to perhaps think about including some of them in the game.

I agree with you on most parts.

About orks, elves etc well they have good art and models now. Personaly I can play with them, not a big problem for me. But would be nice to see more true slavic creatures for sure. I like your examples.

Well, every fantasy game has those. But none, apart from Thea have Slavic folklore. Why I think it should focus and expand on that...
Any reason why the devs, who are usually quite responsive, have completely ignored this post of mine?

Completely agree with you, OP.

Sorry, I's been very busy and I admit this one got lost for me!

So, just to answer your feedback, love the ideas for some new creatures, if we have the space to add some I shall certainly use some of those!

I have also changed the zombies into 'unlivig corpses' which I hope works better.

As for why such a mix, well, not to get into it too much, but Thea is a play on the classical fantasy tropes, not a re-invention as it were. As such, it is rooted in the high fantasy worlds, but told from a perspective of a land yet unexplored, i.e. the Easternlands. I don't know how many of you are aware of the setting of the Witcher series, but it is a somewhat similar idea, in that you have a jumble of classic fantasy peoples, like the elves dwarves etc, and then the Slavic flavouring. I hope this answers your questions.

Cheers
It does, thank you very much. :)
