Plus Im stop using Scaled Leather. This material broken IMHO. It gives too much STR plus very good armor. Basicly with Scaled Leather armor any character bacame warrior. It is 17 armor +6 STR!
I hope they add more penalties to overloading your characters as well.
The devs are aware of this, and it's something that will change at some point.
If you're okay with using the exploit, by all means, knock yourself out... at least until it's patched out and changes are made to the weight system.
Also consider that it might be a "bad habit" to get used to; if you do it too much now, it might be harder to adapt once it gets changed.
Just give your weak people some +strength gear... easy enough to do.
One reason to start this thread was because this tactic felt too much like an exploit when using it. On the other hand it is not a clear bug either (The system work as designed, but perhaps not as intended). I haven't seen a mention that this issue was known or planned to be fixed but if it is, all the better.
I suppose some form of percentual penalty to stats may work wonders (20% over the weight limit? 20% reduction on skills. Since this would reduce both equipment and base skill its a heavy penalty that might be worth paying at times)
It's been a while, so I forget where I saw it, but it's been discussed (a discussion in which a dev took part), and it's something that will be looked at. Probably relatively low priority, though.
It will not change anything.
I think game need mechanic that can prevent equipping any items above cargo capacity. If character got curse -STR and cant carry his gear - auto drop his gear. Something like that.
I see the cargo limit as a soft limit. If i were to give you a sword that is too heavy you could still swing it, but just not as effectively. A gradual penalty to gear / skill effectivity seems more realistic, not to mention less annoying to deal with.
Why you want de-equip +STR items and after equip heavy items above cargo capacity? Even just for testing ha ha. But yeah I see what you mean.
And I see the cargo limit in another way. If dude have 300 max cargo capacity that means even with 250 he already carrying a lot. After 300 he cant even move on strategic map for a reason. Thats why example with sword a bit funny for me. =P
To be honest I think STR should add 25 to cargo and not 50. Coz right now 6-7 dudes can carry TONs of materials and the the weight of a weapon or armor important in very rare situations ( mostly for craftsmans and medics ).
Anyone use light armor righ now becouse you want to use very heavy hammer at the same time? Or becouse you wann space for some materials, nope I dont think so.
Plus gear for STR shouldnt add +6. Looking at you Scaled Leather.
Many more changes are waiting to get into the build which should give a bit more balance to the game but its on our beta server.
Nice to know. Any chances we can have access to this beta? Steam have this option. Or you dont wanna to see situations where lets say overbuffed Baba Yaga will eat all our kids? =P
