"Whoa, where's the fire?" Achievement Strategy
I'm down to this achievement and of course, maxing all out gods. If you have completed this achievement, I would like to hear what strategy you used. :)

I cheesed it. I made a game with the easiest setting possible. Beat the main quest in by turn 70.

It's turn 62, and I don't have the Cosmic Tree quest yet. What am I missing?

Nevermind, it just popped! Woohoo, one more achievement to go!

Cheesing it is the easiest strategy as chickenfeatherz said. Just play it in a low difficulty and wait for the quest to pop. I played it in a small world but it had a very weird geography with many bottlenecks, so I barely beat it by turn 99 or something like that XP but hey, it still worked at the first attempt. I think I played it at around 150% difficulty, but with Thea's progress set to Snail.

Is the quest path the only way to finish this even at the lowest settings?

no, but building that many buildings and fighting that many 4scull fights inside of 100 turns is... mathmatically improbable.

Yeah, I looked at the Domination Victory requirement, and I just saw that 4x skull fight requirement. That's virtually impossible, so I am not sure if I can even do it on lowest difficulties, because I've never quested that much that early. I guess I will have to try a new aggressive strategy ;)

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this achievement is driving me crazy.

I should've easily gotten it the last game, except I couldn't find the final Cosmic Quest marker. And when I found it, I was maybe 2 turns too late. Fug.

So stupid...

The map size makes a much bigger difference than overall difficulty for this one. I beat is pretty easily at over 200% difficulty with the smallest map size... somewhere around turn 60 or 70. Granted, that was a patch or two ago when scholars showed up all the time, making it even faster. But a social win of the tree quest is still pretty easy.

I finally did it. It was just a pain, and it required me to try 3 different games at lowest difficulty and the smallest map. I don't mind achievements that are hard, but I do have problems with achievements that 1) make you go way out of normal mode of play to get them; and 2) make you play in the easiest difficulties to get them. Just a bad Achievement design, in my opinion.

There are a whole lot of achievements in all the games out there that can be cheesed by lowering the difficulty, or using a particular set up that makes the achievement easier. Personally I'll do the achievements on higher challenges to make them feel more rewarding, but sometimes I inadvertently get them while doing something easy. I'd say there are very few really good achievements out there that are a true challenge without being able to be worked around. But it's up to everyone how they want to get them (or not).

Yup, unfortunately so. The worst are the achievements that require you to deliberately play BADLY. For instance, a lot of games reward you with achievements if you die x number of times or if you die in act 1, etc. I find those conceptually incomprehensible, because you have not "achieved" anything.

Yes, I don't like those "achievements" either. I think they are instead a way for the developers to keep track of players that play badly in the same way that other achievements lets them keep track of how many people have completed the game, etc.

They should have another achievement, Seriously, Wheres the fire. beat the game on 215% difficulty in 100 turns.
