That stupid shoe maker quest (SPOILERS!)
Really. SPOILERS.

I'm wondering if I accidentally missed a dialoge option, otherwise I am going to mindlessly vent about a silly/stupid quest I ran across. There is an event where two of your children are taken by a roaming dragon and you have to seek out someone who specializes in removing dragons. So you go through this whole process of making a decoy, sneaking into his lair, and then watching the dragon die because of something hidden in the decoy. But here's my gripe. My away team is beef up to the point where I am auto-passing orange skull level fighting challenges without taking any damage. If I can sneak up on this dragon close enough to leave a decoy in his chamber, I'm close enough to just outright kill the dragon my self. So why does this make me mad? Because of the way the quest ends. I have to give up one of my adventurers as payment. (I know there is a renig option, but I typically play the game honorably.) REALLY? I went through all that mess for a bunch of gems that I don't need and I lost a good party member in the process. This quest really needs a "point me to the bastard and I'll kill him myself" option, because honestly, I could have done that. </vent>

Well, while we're spoiling things....

If you choose not to give him one of your people (which - to me at least - seems the MORE honorable thing to do honestly, since I don't much go for slavery) he will complain, but then you have the option to invite him into your group. You basically say, look, I'm not going to give you one of my people. Join us and, I dunno, maybe someone will take pity on you and hook up with you. He's not super stoked about it, but he agrees.

Your preference, of course, but to me that's the better outcome.

Yep considering you already lost 2 kids to the dragon, then there is no reason to loose one woman too ... instead you can get a sage. His a normal one, nothing special but still "1 kid" back to the village.

I will keep that in mind next time. If I had a weaker party, I could maybe justify that trade, but given the circumstances at the time, the quest seemed terribly unthematic. Again, since we are in spoiler territory, has anyone simply not done the quest? Does the dragon continue to take children or does the quest just sit there and idly do nothing?

its been idle for mefor about 100 turns in one game where I simply just didnt have the straw he needed but no more dragon attacks during that time.
Personally I hate them earthquackes more as they can also take 2 children and you just get the nrmal 1 exp for it and thats all.
