Burning different resources only matters when crafting in the Settlement. When you use higher quality fuels as a catalyst, you improve the chances of making something of good quality. But burning more valuable resources instead of wood when camping is a waste.
The book icon is the quest log with records of your finished and unfiinished quests.
But only after a Smithy has been built.
Some encounters trigger after movement ends. Some encounters trigger during movement. More hexes traveled = more chances to get an encounter. (So if you're slowed by moving through forest or mountains or hills then you just move fewer hexes, fewer hexes = less aggregate encounter chance even though the chance *per* hex is I think the same).
Fuel is fuel, burning whatever has zero effect on materials crafted. You need to consume one fuel if you want villagers to heal more effectively, if you want villagers in the encampent or village that's burning the fuel to work at full instead of half effectiveness.
*Catalysts* for *crafting* are a different matter. If you have a smithy and you use a higher quality item as a catalyst while crafting, you have a chance of getting a good quality item. But that is not "fuel", it is a "catalyst".
For example you can make a clothing item using leather both as a material and as a catalyst. But leather is not a fuel, you can't burn it. You can burn woods and straws as fuel, and woods and straws may *also* be catalysts, but fuel is not the same as catalysts.

The book icon is experience. When the book icon fills up, on the next turn it resets to zero but requires a higher count to get to maximum, and all villagers level, gaining skill.
I don't understand "when my non-warrors get 'bless of strength' in town I overweight certain class that are perma-towns people".
If an expedition is carrying more than the maximum they can carry, their movement is reduced or negated until they get rid of the extra weight. If an expedition is slowed by extra weight and moves, then later gets rid of weight, they won't get a movement refund; if you want maximum normal movement you need to get rid of weight before you move.
If an individual is carrying more than they can normally carry, I don't know what happens for sure exactly. I think it's they can't move, and you get a red icon in lower left like "kg" or something. If you look at portraits of villagers the overladen villager will have an icon on it.
You can't normally equip a villager with more than they can carry, but if you have a Blessing of Strength active and equip a villager, after the blessing expires, the villager loses strength and may not be able to carry what could be formerly carried.
