Almost any other event is pretty controllable or has a relatively free escape option, so once you've played the game enough to get a feel for all the events, not really any of them are disastrous.
Being forced into a 3 skull fight at your village where your people are generally not as well equipt as your expedition is pretty brutal when the 3 skull is a werewolf and if you lose it tons of people are cursed with the worst curse (-5 wounds) even if it had attacked my main expedition instead of my village I think it would have beaten me although i might have just gotten unlucky that i got the event so early on
The poisened well is also a pretty brutal event when the herbalists hut is not on the map i just lost a match to it due to all my people slowly dieing from an incurable poison i wish having herbs in stock would actually counteract this event as i had a bunch
The werewolf fight isn't too bad, honestly, unless you've only been equipping your expeditions and have been leaving your home villagers with crappy stuff. You may need to have one sacrificial unit, like some spider or rat that's just been cooking food in its downtime, but if you've got a little bit of gear you should find the fight manageable. I try to leave my second-best fighter in town for just those types of situations, until I get some Dwarven Smiths or Orc Workers. Once you have one or two of those hanging out in town doing gathering/crafting, you're all set.
Also i did not realise the thing about the healing being equal to the poison so i could have caried on the game where they all got poisoned as i cured my expedition via the event
I would not mind the short interruption in crafting and gathering and the lost food to pay for the cure. Its the tediousness of having to move all your people out, give them the stuff they need for that, and when you are done, re-assign everything to where you left off 6-7 turns before.
Also, curses on villagers are particularly nasty because to cure the curse, you actually have to defeat a rather solid challenge, which your B-team often cannot handle themselves - making everything even more complicated.
The worst offender in the curse area would be the baba yaga hut, where if you cannot hex her away, she curses your expedition AND everyone else, no matter where they are on the map.
Like when the Icy Princess keeps popping up before you're ready for her.
Or when the orcs come by and ask to use the smithy, and instead of rewarding you, they rob you blind. Only happened to me once, but I couldn't believe how much good stuff they stole.
The one I dislike the most though is the one where two women are abducted from an expedition 'cause not only do you have to get them back, you have to put all their clothes back on. It's both annoying as well as disturbing.
Just don't act agressive towards the princess only downside is then you cannot cure her (I have never had the magic in my party required before she appears
You fell into a pit full of poisonous snakes. On turn 10. And I get that one early most of the time.
This one sticks out in my mind as particularly heinous, as well. If I recall correctly, you can choose to avoid the location... I just don't always remember to.
The Poisoned Well and Thief event (the one dergefata mentioned) are consistently annoying. The Dragon that steals your gold is a jerk, too.
I think my vote would go to this one 3 Skull sickness event. I forget how exactly it's worded, but it asks that you have either a Medic, Herbs, or Coal (worded as Charcoal) to help mitigate the challenge. But if you fail, someone dies. It starts triggering in the early midgame. Having one of those three mitigating ingredients that early can be difficult, so it can be a death sentence for one of your dudes if you've been unlucky.
I can agree with the sickness event it is pretty brutal in the early-mid game unless you happen to have a medic on hand or coal for whatever reason (not sure how much coal you need)
This just happened a few minutes ago. Guess someone overheard us talking about her...

I've been running into that black cat outside which sometimes leads to the abduction of a random female. That one sucks 'cause it seems she always ends up in a pot of stew.
I suppose the upside is you get two kids, but still...
