It should give you a good impression of what it is like.
^^
The game has no AI.
When you play "single player", the game launches a local server with no opponents connected. To call a game with no opponents "single player" is outright wrong and really dishonest.
It is a city builder though, in games like Tropico, Foundation, Banished, Cities: Skylines, etc you don't see AI either.
It's also solo game where you just build a city alone (which is kind of the objective when playng single player, to manage and build a city, not to defeat opponents)
So, you'd play Civ solo and call it a city builder?
Gimmie a break.
If you want to sell it as something akin to City Skylines, it fails even harder.
I am not trying to sell it, was just making the comment that it is possible to play it as single player (which I've done) , I didn't talk about Civ. though(not a citybuilder) , made other examples.
I dunno what you are trying to argue or why you want to argue at all. The game is pointless playing solo, period. There is no AI. There are no opponents. The game is nothing like any of your examples. It's not a city builder. I don't give a crap what someone tagged it.
It is a competitive multiplayer game where the goal is to expand and accrue victory points. There is a linear progression through the buildings built. Usually, with one new building at a time. There are not 500 creative options to choose from at the start. If you want to try and label this a city builder, it is the worst city builder that has ever existed.
It is a 4x game that requires opponents to have any point at all. There are no AI opponents. FIN
I don't know why you want to argue either, if that's the case. What I am arguing is that the game is a citybuilder in solo mode and a competitive multiplayer game... in multiplayer. It doesn't change the fact it is a citybuilder with the objective of managing cities (which is what you do when you play solo)
You seem to be pretty obssesed with this. If you didn't like it, that's valid and understandable, it still is a citybuilder and it still is possible to play solo. If to you the format of solo play is boring that's your opinion.
You can play go outside and stare at grass grow solo too, but there is no point or challenge to it.
Is Civ 5 a city builder? You can build buildings...
Is Gal Civ a city builder? You can build buildings....
Is Stellaris a city builder? You can build buildings....
Is Endless Legend a city builder? You can build buildings....
Is Starcraft a city builder? You can build buildings...
Is Command and Conquer a city builder? You can build buildings...
Is Distant Worlds a city builder? You can build buildings...
Would you play any of those games without an opponent?
That's my point.
None of them are city builders. All of them require an opponent to make any sense at all.
As does this game. But this game has no AI opponents, and therefore has no single player "game" at all. What it has is a multiplayer sessions with no players connected, that you can sit through if you want, but it is pointless beyond learning.
