Stuck at "connecting to localhost 14804". Any solution?

This keeps happening. I try to load up a game and it gets stuck. The loading bar hangs saying "connecting to localhost 14804" and the status indicator is red. I shut down the game and restart it. Sometimes I have to do it 5, 10 times in a row. It's beginning to drive me crazy. Any solutions out there?

That can happen if the server doesn't start up properly. If you go into the game's folder, there should be a server.bat file. If you run that, it will open up the server window. Launch the correct world from there and your game should connect. Hope that helps!

I try this and a back square window briefly appears then vanishes. Nothing else happens

Ok reset the windows socket, restarted the pc and it now works. Dont usually have these issues with games so may need to check this out dev :-)

Hello, seems like I have kinda same problem.. Its just that if I try start the Server.bat in root folder the server starts but than I cant start the game.. I can start the game if I close it.. But than I cant start the server... how to fix this? :o

Okay. I tried what says on the wiki alsow. Yes I think my OS are preventing me for starting both server and game. But cant find out why. I made "start-server.bat" file what it says on wiki, but still no work. Either its steam preventing me start both or its the OS. When I wish to start the server (game not running) Steam tells me it wish to start with params "-server". And it says I play Ymir when it does that. So it says I play Ymir when I start only ymir. So might this be steam related? is there possible to start the server without steam maybe??

In the Server window, in the top right, there should be a button called "start client". That's what you want to do if you want to play on the server. By starting the game with -server you basically run just the server with the world in the background. The client is your playable instance of the game.

Well I know that. My problem is that it seems like either my pc, steam or the game itself wont let me launch two games.. Steam says "-server" is me playing Ymir when I only are on the "-server" one. When the "-server" is running I can click on "run client" , run the .exe file in root directory. But still the game wont start because the "-server" is allrdy running. No I am not trying to start the "-server" once more. I am trying to start the game with it.

Tried since I posted this untill now I am still struggeling. =(

By the way, me and some friends found a solution for the connection problem that works for the 3 of us: The important part was that we had to forward the port of the game in the Router of the Host, not the local PC. For me that meant typing in the IP of my Router (usually written on the back of the device) and going to the Internet option -> forward port and putting in the default port of the game: 14804 in both the UDP and TCP options. However keep in mind that forwarding ports can pose a risk for your network so use this at your own discretion. However after putting the port in UDP and TCP my friends were able to connect on the server I hosted locally by using the ingame options. Hope it helps.

Well.. I do know that and have no problem with connection. I have only problem being able to start the game(or server) and the server (or game) at same time (or after starting one of them.).
