builing tactic familiarity?
What's the best way to do it during pre season and season? Train a lot in team cohesion and tactic training for match prep?

You want to put the Training slider bar all the way to the left (which favours Match Preperation) and then train Tactics under Match Preperation. Once you have the Tactical Familiarity up bring the Training slider bar more over to the right which will then focus more on your General Training.

EDIT:

What you will notice as well is that if your change certain team instructions like your style of passing, team width etc that will affect your Tactical Familiarity. And it's also worth noting that making new signings will affect your Tactical Familiarity too, so the more players you sign, the longer it will take to build up.

First thing I do is go through my coaching staff, getting rid of any dead weight and aim to recruit staff who will give me the highest possible rating in each category. I consider this to be more important than signing players and am happy to pay compensation to those leaving and any clubs I want to poach staff from, for me this is money well spent.

Secondly assess the squad, figure out what your teams strengths/weaknesses are, identify the 3 best formations that will allow you to field the strongest 11 and get a feel for what you think will work best tactically with what you have to work with.

Third - set up your 3 sets of tactics, making sure to keep them simple while trying to cover all preferences, eg - Tac1 - 442 control, Tac2 - 433 counter, Tac3 - 451 contain. I tend to keep them similar in certain areas, for example if i have plenty of good passers then I'll keep the passing mixed for all tactics, if I have strength on the wings then I will clear ball to flanks on all 3 tactics, this will get them doing that much faster. If my team is pretty poor technically then I'll get them to play more conservatively, if I have bags of creative talent then again I'll reflect that in all tactical presets etc... less is more.

Then make sure all first team players are training for the position and role I will want them to play.

General training - Tactical Very high for 3 weeks, then Fitness High for 1 week followed by Team cohesion High for one week, cycling like that throughout pre season and into the season proper, I also give them a rest after matches.

Match preperation - Match tactics for 3 matches which I alternate in the same way as above with Teamwork for 1 match, Attacking movement for one match, Defensive positioning for one match, then back to Match tactics for 3 matches and so on, I don't tend to work on set pieces in training until my team is comfortable with all the tactical set ups.
