The game's too hard, it's not enjoyable
So.. I managed United, load a new save for 20+ times, and still got beaten left right/center by clubs like Watford, Villa, etc.

And before people says I need to learn more tactics, I've set a 5 variants on a 442 tactics, none of them works (it used to work on FM2015), besides there's nothing extreme in my tactics, just a basic 442 with 2 FB and 2 WM 2 Big/Small striker, surely it can't go that bad??

I've finished 6th and drawns like 12 of them while losing 8.

I get it they want to cater to the tactical caterpillar, but let me enjoy player breeding pokemon game, it's really not fun when you have to alter tactics every 10 minutes and watch the game in full. :(

Is it just me? Or is this the normal "Out of the box version" FM we'd always have, and it looks like it won't be until January they release a patch to normalise things.

This is getting frustrating up to a point I can't do anything to win, everything I do the AI just steamrolled me, and that's a relegation sides FFS.

Already said this on the SI-games forum: If you're playing this game from a football manager perspective, then you're playing it wrong. Tactics, ME or whatever, are all interpretations based on how SI sees football. I used the example of the BBM. Everybody who watches football, will know that many BBM's have different playing styles. Ever since the classic mode got removed, you're stuck with these templates that SI provides you. Their BBM will always behave the same, no matter what player you put in that slot. Another example is the TM. No matter who you place in that slot, your team will always try to play on long ball towards him. So SI's TM should always be a strong and tall player. It all feels very generic.

The key to succes in FM16, is to figuring out how SI interpretate football. Once you've figured that out, the game is easy to play and you will get bored very fast because it lacks creativity.

Agree with the OP. Part of the issue is that SI just copy/pastes the tooltips when it has changed a lot from previous versions or the tooltip is just flat-out wrong (e.g., Control mentality isn't "possession-based" football as proven over a hundred times in the official forum).

If you want to be successful with the game, this http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/445500-The-Art-of-Possession-Football is the sort of knowledge that you must have.

On one hand, it's awesome that SI is striving for ultra-realism but on the other hand, it's alienating the core/casual fans of the game.

If you're having trouble making a tactic on your own and don't want to read loads of stuff you can try mine where I won everything first season with United. But yeah for new players this game is abit too hard.

Hope it helps.

I'm managed Manchester City and I went invinsable in one season, winning everything so I disagree that it is too hard, but still I know of many managers that are struggling, I always like to start off as a bigger team, so maybe try that.

United is a big team?

Oops! I didn't realise you were meaning Manchester United.

I resetted 20+ times (the whole season, not just a game), tried everything, I even read the whole guidetofootballmanager.com as if its a lecture and taking notes and stuffs

but the randomness of this patch is just abysmal to say, you really can't enjoy the game, it's either cracking the engine or being stumped, there's really nothing in between.

I can probably google some omgwtfleetass tactics, but that took away the enjoyment of developing my favorite 442.

I didn't ask for an all conquering one size fits it all, but in my last game the winner of the league has 60ish pts with 12 draws, i was on 10 draw and 10 lost and still made 5th. All the big 5 are around the same with their form goes into dust.

it really is not enjoyable at the moment, why oh why do I believe that SI finally get this game right on the first few months :( as if they ever get it right before january

I made my own 4-2-3-1 that I won everything with, what stops you from doing the exact same?
TMnuts Dec 5, 2015 @ 8:53pm
I guess this game just prove that United cant attack anymore, =p
I lost 3 of 5 games while i tweak with tactics and get the basic understanding. After that it got better and eventually won the league in the first season. Remember that you need to train the team up to the new formation to get them up to fluid level otherwise it doesnt work.

I did make one and manage to win in my first season, but then again it probably lucks, as I really revamp my united save, selling half the squad and bringing 22 new players, so maybe it took the tool on me :(

I did, not saying 1-2 games, I tested each variations for almost half a season :(

I guess I need to struck lucky somehow, can't even manage to field a DM cause I use a flat 442, and BWM tends to get red carded almost every game.

My morgan schneiderlin racked 10 red cards and guaranteed a yellow every game :(

Been playing fm since 1995, so I can take some loses and I never reload game, but these are hair pulling odds they gave me this year :(

Oh.. I can accept a 4th or unlucky 5th finish, but playing with a standard 2 full defending CB and 2 FB on defend with Manchester United and still conceeding 50 goals in one season is just unacceptable, and it's happens 9 out of 10 new games I started.

I know you're probably thinking it's my tactics, but I tried everything from basic, copying from google, all to the very complicated one yet the result is staggeringly unbelievable.
Bladeson Dec 5, 2015 @ 10:04pm
Fair enough, ill agree sometimes defenders are bad but I haven't had constant issues. Hopefully they'll improve the defenders in general in the next patch.
Powellinho.72 Dec 5, 2015 @ 10:07pm
the crossing is op atm.Im seeing full backs/wing backs getting into double figures in assists before january :P.

I agree, how can you train your team to improve crossing? My teams stats are great, but they only succeed 33% of crosses, I feel like 50-60% would be a drastic improvement.
Just individual focus to improve crossing stat on all my players? If that's an option..
Reinezen Dec 5, 2015 @ 11:28pm
And let's not start on the post, I can hit the post 4-5 times in a match :D
And the morale/form seems to be stuck, you'd take forever to raise it and a lost to burn it down to yellow :(

As always the game is still not balanced, 20 bloody version onwards and they can't get the basic rights all the time :(

THanks for the support guys, anyway I seems to strike luck these regen and hitting 2nd in january, I simply create a tactic called "Bah, ♥♥♥♥ it" and forget about everything I read, and I just recreate it based on FM2015...

Now hopefully I can move on to the first season hicups and get on with my "Wonderkids" Wonderland Breeding game :D
