Ultra mode TLB - Final Pattern

I have put hours and hours into this boss now, realistically probably a couple of days play. I am just going through training mode, 3 lives, W-Shot. I am at the point where I am actually pretty good at getting through this now and can mostly get through to the final phase without losing a life, maybe one if I am unlucky.

Anyone got any tips for this last pattern? I know it is legendary and I know it is meant to be tough but I am not making much progress, I can probably last 8 seconds at best with a bit of luck. For the ones that did, is it just muscle memory? I am not sure if there is a way of making save states just to practice this one pattern? I'm not sure if MAME allows for it and whilst I can emulate it on the XBOX 360 I don't think Xenia allows for save states either yet.

Also, I notice a big difference on the last boss if you choose to play on the 2P side rather than the default 1P side. The video below shows the comparison between them. One pattern seems slightly easier and others now seem unavoidable without bombing.
Does anyone know if anyone has done a no miss / no bomb of the TLB on the P2 side? I'm not convinced it is possible looking at this.
Not sure why the patterns are even different, maybe a bug? Maybe an ultimate challenge for players who can do 1P side.
