No more CAVE shmups on Steam? :(
I was so happy to see Mushihimesama, Deathsmiles and DoDonPachi Resurrection coming to Steam, and then... no more?

I would love to see Mushihimesama Futari, Espgaluda I & II, Akai Katana, Deathsmiles II, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou and SaiDaiOuJou coming too !

I was hoping to see them too, but it seems that Degica could not get the permission to port everything from Cave - which is a shame :(

No PS4 Ports(XBOX is backward compatible, so it should be possible to play the Xbox 360 Cave Catalog on newer Hardware) and no further PC Ports... I think that Cave has some interesting expactations when it comes to sales and the pricing for their games and this is why we don't see more from them :/

Just look at this:
https://www.hardcoregamer.com/2015/10/03/shmup-developer-cave-is-completely-out-of-its-mind/170302/

We are just talking about ports of existing games. Sure there are problems like getting the slowdown right, but it shouldn't be that expensive to port.

Hopefully they will change their minds someday soon and get something out. Similar to what Sega did - that would be awesome. A VR-Arcade(like Oculus Arcade, or NewRetroArcade) would e even better...but....they have to port it in the first place..

The XBone isn´t backwards compatible per se, like the PS2 was with PS1 games for example. Only a small part of all XB360 games can be played on the XBone. XB360 Games have to be specifically patched to be usable one the XBone; but I don´t know if that´s the case with the Disc and/or digital-Versions of the XB360 Shmups. Mushihimesama Futari for example wasn´t playable on the XBone last time I checked.

They have to patch or I think even port every Xbox or Xbox360 game that should run on Xbox One. I think Microsoft even pays the developer for the work. When this work is done, you can put your 360 disc in the One Drive, they Download the Xbox One Version of the game and you can play it, as long as the disc is inserted for copying reasons. I wouldn't really call it backwards compatible. It's more that they just port many of their older Games for the new Platform. But as far as I know they generally just port mainstream-bestseller games. Halo, Call of Duty and stuff. Okay, the ported Bayonetta, too, but I think that was an Exception. I don't think there is any Shmup ported yet, and I don't think it will ever happen :( Many people call that backwards compatible, but it really isn't!

I would like to point out that the article you linked there is roughly three years old. It even has the date it was published in the link you posted: 2015/10/03

Welp, looks like I have a reason to reobtain an Xbox 360 in my lifetime.

But seriously that's just a shame. I've always been into shooters, and only recently did I really start getting into bullet hell games. But playing Mushihimesama, I have no idea why but this game has me hooked. Still practicing to beat Normal Original 1CC, but from what I hear, Futari is even harder which only makes me want to play it more.

Fingers crossed we eventually get a port of Futari in the future at least.

Posting to show my support for more Cave PC ports.

I'm probably most eager to buy Muchi Muchi Pork and Ibara/Ibara Kuro because they seem so damn different to the other Cave games, including to the Cave games that have been released on Steam so far. But I would buy literally any game in their catalogue.

Sorry for the Necro but I would love to see Dangun Feveron on Steam

I would just like to see more Cave games ported to PC, it's frustrating knowing that some of the best games are stuck on Arcade (emulation is hit or miss for slowdown) and that they aren't willing to do the work to bring it to the masses.

Mame is good in itself but I get what you say...

I wouldn't mind if they adds some tweaks and bonus modes on top of simply porting the games

Come on Degica and Cave!
Jotamide Jan 29, 2019 @ 5:27am
I think the initiative of CAVE on PC is dead in the water because CAVE themselves couldn't be arsed to do proper arcade ports to PC. M2 have the know-how but all their CAVE ports have been console-exclusive so far.

All I want from CAVE and Degica is Akai Katana at this point. If anything, because an official localization exists and I don't think M2 is going to bother with a newer game for the Shot Triggers line.

Darn... I wanted to see Dangun Feveron on PC... guess I'll wait for a Switch port (if they care enough about it...)
