No PS4 Ports(XBOX is backward compatible, so it should be possible to play the Xbox 360 Cave Catalog on newer Hardware) and no further PC Ports... I think that Cave has some interesting expactations when it comes to sales and the pricing for their games and this is why we don't see more from them :/
Just look at this:
https://www.hardcoregamer.com/2015/10/03/shmup-developer-cave-is-completely-out-of-its-mind/170302/
We are just talking about ports of existing games. Sure there are problems like getting the slowdown right, but it shouldn't be that expensive to port.
Hopefully they will change their minds someday soon and get something out. Similar to what Sega did - that would be awesome. A VR-Arcade(like Oculus Arcade, or NewRetroArcade) would e even better...but....they have to port it in the first place..
The XBone isn´t backwards compatible per se, like the PS2 was with PS1 games for example. Only a small part of all XB360 games can be played on the XBone. XB360 Games have to be specifically patched to be usable one the XBone; but I don´t know if that´s the case with the Disc and/or digital-Versions of the XB360 Shmups. Mushihimesama Futari for example wasn´t playable on the XBone last time I checked.
I would like to point out that the article you linked there is roughly three years old. It even has the date it was published in the link you posted: 2015/10/03
But seriously that's just a shame. I've always been into shooters, and only recently did I really start getting into bullet hell games. But playing Mushihimesama, I have no idea why but this game has me hooked. Still practicing to beat Normal Original 1CC, but from what I hear, Futari is even harder which only makes me want to play it more.
Fingers crossed we eventually get a port of Futari in the future at least.
I'm probably most eager to buy Muchi Muchi Pork and Ibara/Ibara Kuro because they seem so damn different to the other Cave games, including to the Cave games that have been released on Steam so far. But I would buy literally any game in their catalogue.
I wouldn't mind if they adds some tweaks and bonus modes on top of simply porting the games
All I want from CAVE and Degica is Akai Katana at this point. If anything, because an official localization exists and I don't think M2 is going to bother with a newer game for the Shot Triggers line.
