Keyboard Prompt Font Complaints
Hi all!

We've seen a number of comments about the font used for keyboard players and are currently sourcing an alternative one!

Sadly the vertical alignment can't be changed, but we can certainly find something more readable! We'll do a news update once we make the change, but if anyone has any suggestions while we search for the perfect font, let us know!

Hi again!

We've updated the game with a new font! It shaved a little off our times, hopefully it does for you too!

It did help a lot, I'm glad to see you fixed that
If you are willing to keep working on that I guess you can also fix the directions mode for keyboard (specially since it is as close as you get to controller with keyboard), maybe instead of using special icons for WASD, just use the normal letter, the arrows in the background get mixed up far too easily (I know, they are yellow, but still silly unnecesary confusing arrows which makes everything an arrow)

And about the Grand Final, we poor humans need to see the letters before we press the key, which doesn't seem to be an issue for Mr. Wyatt Hurt, who starts faster than my eyes can send the information to my brain
maybe giving a similar preparation like the rest of the challenges, or just giving a bit of drawback for bots would be useful :2016skull:

Hmm this is an interesting one. Before we added proper typing support, the WASD keyboard mode was the only one available. We had a number of people say it wasn't great to play with, so we tried rejigging it with the arrows, you can see the discussion in this thread:

Which of course doesn't mean that's the best solution, it just makes it an interesting quandary. Definitely open to suggestions! So you'd prefer just straight WASD, right?

Another tough one, hehe. I can definitely sympathise, but by the same token Wyatt is supposed to be tough. He's definitely not unbeatable, but he is fast. However I can also see the argument that the difficulty might be too high a barrier for the player who doesn't mind getting a bit better, but doesn't want to play the game over and over just to get all the achievements. I could see adding a slightly higher delay before he starts. Roughly how much time are you guys losing by?

For the WASD issue I would like to think it equivalent to a controller. That means removing the arrows behind the letters and instead add a different coloured background and/or outline to each letter to make it as similar to controllers buttons as possible. I believe that would make controller vs keyboard more fair for both sides, too. And make the colours customizable, perhaps?

About the Grand Final, I've been trying for a while by now and with an incredibly easy word (which I can't remember by now) I was defeated with a 0.016 seconds difference (I've been improving, alright), even though in average I am not even able to finish writing. I agree now that it's possible, but I can't possibly get better conditions than those, it ends up being trial and error until I get some "perfect word" again, maybe another alternative would be making a limited dictionary or patterns for controllers to make it less stressfully random, at least for skilltester challenges, that is
If you want to slow down Wyatt, then every ms counts, and 1/2 a second would make it unchallenging by then, this thing really requires a level of precision I'm not used to XD
Still, the main reason people will get mad at the Grand Final, is the fact that it makes you wait a while before you can try again, I know it's meant to build the atmosphere, but that is completely lost by the 10th try. Allowing it to be skipped (or sped up) may solve most complaints by itself

Hey guys,

I've just put an update up that addresses Wyatt's speedy reaction to seeing his combo. His difficulty remains the same, but now he's got a more realistic response time to starting his combo. We decided we didn't want to make him easier, but the argument that Sungazer made:

Makes sense, so hopefully this change makes it feel like he's still fast, but not super-human!

Additionally we've added two more keyboard graphic configuration options in the game settings. One is vanilla WASD buttons and the other is colour coded. Hopefully one of these tickles your fancy better! Let me know how you go!
