Save data deleting

I was playing the game a few weeks ago and left it. When I came back all my save files and progress had been erased. I've seen other people mention this issue.

Is this a Holiday Star issue or a Steam Issue?

If its the latter, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

If it is a known Holiday Star issue is there a possibility of it being fixed?
