Can Minecraft Story Mode: The Complete Adventure PC DVD work on Steam?

I want to buy the disc and I'm wondering if it could be saved to the Steam library instead of using the disc. Any suggestions?

Nope. That would be the Telltale Games version, that used to give you a key that you'd use on the Telltale Games website - that doesn't work anymore, and it won't work on Steam either. You're better off hoping that someday they get to re-publish the games.

Also if I got the Steam Key with episodes 1-5 and adventure pass episodes 6-8 will they still work, beacuse people online are saying it doesn't work with steam.

1. No, you cannot change the Telltale Games CD key into a Steam license key.
2. It should work, as long as the key(s) were not used, as long as they're Steam keys, not CD keys or license keys for other platforms (e.g. PS3, XBOX 360).
3. They still should work, but there's no reliable website to get them from anymore, since there's barely any key left that's unused.

you can add it as a non steam game it shows as a steam game in your liberty to boot and use steam layout but no community features
