Considering Herobrine is a non canon creepypasta that does not, in any way (other than as a joke in the updates) actually exist in the Minecraft universe, I would wonder just what the hell Telltale is thinking.

in all likelihood if they did it'd just be he's hidden in a crowd like what Mojang did several times in various pictures

There are a few subtle background events that reference mojang. A banner here and there.
