Of course it's pure speculation, we can't know before playing but let's say it's very plausible.
Personally I used to play a ton of Minecraft before (Single player of course, the community is 2toxic4me) but I have a hard time understanding the point of this game too, Minecraft's sole interest is in building stuff, the lore is paper thin, there is absolutely no background story and the graphic is purposely minimal and cubic meant for a building mechanic not storytelling.
I see absolutely no reason to use Minecraft as a basis for an adventure game, especially when you look at the trailers, beside the graphics and some trademark monsters it has absolutely nothing to do with minecraft anyway, thus the cashgrab speculations.
Now even if I won't buy this myself, I don't say it won't please the target audience so everything could end up good in the end (It's telltale after all), offer & demand and stuff...
Though they do have good reason.
The communities of games often view TellTale as money grabbers by making a scam project, though i do love this concept, though TellTale making it just seems like another obvious part in what they do.
And there is no originality, litterally not even the original minecraft dev teams are doing this, that is why this version of minecraft is just so Unreal to the real game and it's own story of it's universe, though this is getting Too Far, a story for minecrafters to follow!? We make our own.
And from what ive seen, the machinimas and animations that other minecrafters make doesn't at all fit in from this, minecraft is about making our own story, legend, tale, not following one.
Minecraft's lore is well. There is this Ender Dragon, it's your goal, go kill it.
A company wants to make money and is labeled a money grabber...
Yeah... You go back in your hole in the ground until you know how the world works, mkay?
In my opinion Minecraft is my favourite game, but that doesn't mean I'm an autistic 8-year-old like people might think. In fact, the only reason why most of the gaming community hate Minecraft is because they don't like kids. But if you don't like kids, IGNORE THEM. Seriously, you should have learned that already.
