This is a joke, right?
Turning a non-linear sandbox game that originally thrived on the creativity of independent developers and the imagination of users... into a linear story mode no-mod less content game that costs MORE than the original?
That's.. I wanna say bold. Yeah, bold seems like the kind way to say it.

There are so many things wrong with this game, what you mentionned barely touches the surface.

Of ALL the possible ideas for a telltale game they thought MINECRAFT was the right choice?

No they're actually serious. I am honestly curious how this game will do. I don't think it will do very well, but i could wrong.

its you opinion, not a fact

One of the things that makes the original so successful is the mod community, but this is really just another avenue for the game. I recently upgraded to windows 10 and got a free copy of Minecraft PC for windows 10, now that game is a joke. It is a port of the PE ver no option for video settings, and no real advanced world setting, also no mods. That ver cost $9.99, but the Mojang PC ver still cost $27 so really this title is less than the original. It will never be as popular as the other Minecraft ver, and the Telltale haters will troll the forums I'm sure, but I'm still excited to try this game

It's a fact that it's more expensive than the original game it's based on for a more linear less immersive experience offering a much more limited amount of game time.

My personal opinion is this: For 5$ I might consider it as a MineCraft fan or completionist, and I'm sure those types will buy any plastic cube with MineCraft branding. But it will be a footnote in the MicroCrapping results of the buyout of Mojang, and another regrettable development in recent monetizing game trends shelved alongside pay2win in-app purchases and in-game product placement. And I don't think lamenting these trends makes me a "troll".
A purist snob, perhaps. Obviously, if you want to buy it, buy it. People have wasted more money on disappointing lunches.

Alpha/Infdev MineCraft was indeed 5 smackaroos. It's only over time with successive releases that the prices has been upped as more time and labor was put into the venture. But for something to come out as a complete product with this price tag... for how many hours of gameplay? Is there an estimate on that? How many dollars per hour does the game boil down to? What are the replayability factors? Are there any? Do we know? Just seems steep to me. (Yes, that note is personal opinion. Obviously.)

Think of the Lego movie or other cgi movies. Like those, but an interactive version that, when complete, will be 7 and a half - 10 hours long (assuming an average minimum of around 90 minutes per episode, with the longest being 120.) With it being interactive, there are choices, but so we don't get another person possibly complaining about choices if you do buy it, don't expect them to radically alter the plot or anything, like they don't in the vast majority of games.

Do, however, expect it to be a fairly enjoyable product if you like interactive movie type games. Particularly if you have kids and/or enjoy animated movies like Antz, Lego movie etc. Heck, I have no kids, 29 and I like them. Not ashamed to admit it. I also happen to enjoy Telltale's other titles, so it's a win - win for me really, despite not playing Minecraft.

Also, while you don't have to pay anymore for the full game, as that's what you're purchasing on Steam, keep in mind that Telltale titles are episodic. So, while you will get the full game via updates, you're not getting all the episodes at once. That's also why I said per episode. Obviously, the 90 - 120 minute figures are 'ballparks', as episodes can sometimes be slightly less or slightly more. But the good thing is that game time from one player to the next shouldn't vary drastically, based on prior games, as we all have to do go through the same dialog and there's not too much walking around and if there are puzzles to solve, they are very easy (based on past games since TWD S1)

If you're not sure about the title or money's short, you can purchase one episode at a time on consoles and tablets, I believe. Or you could wait until a few more episodes are out/it's completed, in which case you'll probably be able to purchase it at a discount too as they normally run sales when a new episode is about to release. However, for obvious reasons despite what others say, not everyone should do this if they have the cash to spare and know what they're buying. If everyone were to wait, there'd be no cash for development or it would send the wrong message. (Saying this for others, not you jaysthoughts, as people don't seem to take that into account when saying 'wait for a sale etc.')

PS: I personally think the price is quite reasonable too. £18 pound here is essentially the equivalent of 2 new DvDs in the UK (blu-rays obviously dearer)? Don't know for sure, as I don't keep up with things these days due to Netflix. Rather than 2 films, you're essentially getting 5. Sure, not the same thing, but the hours you get out of the product is the same. Actually, it's more if you like replaying to check out different choices. Only difference really is it'll take a while for all 5 episodes to be released.

I just wanted to clarify, after re-reading my original post I came off as calling you a troll... I want to apoligize for that. I think you made a valid point. I just have seen alot of Telltale haters on a number of their game forums.... also I feel that the world of free modded Minecraft is eventually going to come to an end, sadly.

Got mindcraft, which I've had like forever before most people ever heard of it, and I'm getting this game. Blam! Best of both worlds. To each their own tastes, I just perfer to expand beyond one type of game for variety.
