Keep in mind, though, that the digital version can be quirky, and not always well-behaved. It works for the most part. But a lot of us have noticed the occasional glitch -- nothing consistent (anymore, that is). Although I've only occasionally played multiplayer, and never had a problem with it, I have heard that others have had the occasional problem. And I can't guarantee whether or not any of the past issues that several of us have reported have or have not been fixed (since they were not generally reproducible). But if you still have problems or questions, just come back here and post them.
Thank you for taking the time to offer the detailed reply you posted. I read through the piece you linked and followed the instructions. It was a very thorough and helpful article, and I was able to play my first successful AI game. Once I had the mechanics down, I was fortunate enough to win my first online game. I'm still listed as Provisional, but it's a start. Thanks for all your help, @Haldurson.
