Do all players need to own a digital copy of the game?

I bought this thinking I could play online remotely with friends. They do not own the game. Is there some way to invite them to my game, or do they have to buy it too?

As said above you can try remote play together. Also worth noting the digital version is much cheaper than the board game version, meaning in theory if you wanted to play it as a board game, you'd be spending 3-4 times as much, so buying 3-4 copies isn't really that awful.
