You sound like one of those annoying kids that came on here at steam launch insulting everybody. Mama did a terrible job.
It was the first few months of being hit with mountains and mountains of bugs that killed this game. Drove the core population away fast.
LOL WHAT???
The article is 2 years old and the game is on multiple platforms so no ♥♥♥♥ it has more players.
Pair that with a seemingly unwillingness to create new content, and instead expand on the already dull dungeons that existed.. and the housing system.. and there you have it.
Adding more difficulties to existing content != new content. It isn't going to bring in more players.. it's going to push the ones tired of the same old grind away.
Let's not forget the bug that spread around with the release of Prime+ dungeons that would outright delete items from your inventory without a trace. All that time spend grinding for that +9 or whatever? gone. GMs couldn't help.
So, it was a combination of things that's killed WildStar.
I liked the game, I really did. Raided with some great folks.. one of the best times I'd had in an MMORPG because of them alone.
But.. I saw this coming 20 miles away and bailed before I got too attached. After I found out the development team consisted of like 8 people.. and the fact that no one was willing to help replace prime gear folks spent weeks grinding on.. nope, gotta go.
In their defense, though.. the game has had next to no advertising. Granted, the difficulty of the game when it released is what scared off most of their potential customers. Once it went Steam/F2P they should have had a massive advertising campaign announcing all of the key changes to the game, including how accessible it was to new players now.
But, they could not.
Shame to see a game go, but it is what it is.
+1
Just like fortnite, eh?
I agree 100% with that opinion. Well put!
That and the toxic Casual "player base" plague, that is ruining every single MMO.
