The real reason why Wildstar got shutdown
The cartoon graphics and horrible gameplay was the main downfall of this game. Both Wildstar and ESO launched in the game year of 2014 and now look at ESO... one of the most successful mmorpgs right now on the market while Wildstar bites the dust.

For any game to be successful in the market the gameplay has to be fun and the graphics has to be attractive. Wildstar had none of that. Thats why LOTRO and DDO were separated from Carbine studios and taken over by Standing stone games. Carbine doesn't know how to make good fun mmorpg.

If you think Wildstar was a good fun game then you have no idea what fun actually means. Go check out successful mmorpgs like FFXIV, ESO and WOW.

But Fun and Having Fun is subjective and varies from person to person? How can something subjective be a base for the metric?
WildStar's graphics is what caught my attention. I love them cartoony graphics. Brings the fantasy feeling even better. ESO may have the superior combat, and bigger world, more quests, freedom to roam around, but WildStar had a home, fantasy feeling.

ESO and successful? Don't know a single person that actively plays it. WoW and fun? You mean more their psychological abusing in causing pressure to play with their sub-fee and their content drops that keeps the gear treadmill rolling so players are indrectly forced to play the game.

Wildstar was just not for the casual aka noob player which nowadays is the majority of a mmo's player base. The game itself was fantastic, the difficulty was just too high for most people.

Wildstar had the most memorable style. Even after I had a minor disaster with customer support turning me off the game, I still came back to it. Legitimately sad that it's going down.

WildStar - Cartoon Graphic = Fail.
WoW - Hyper realism Graphic = Success.

If there is a reason why WildStar got shutdown, you're totally missing it. Go play that very successful game called ESO lol

14k playing ESO on Steam right now. Wildstar's all time high was 5k on Steam. I understand why you don't like this guy, but c'mon man.

ESO has 8.5 million active players.

*Gamespot picked up news from MMORPG.com where game director Matt Firor revealed that they've managed 8.5 million players in The Elder Scrolls Online. Firor further explains that that figure represents sold-through figures and not shipped figures.*
You do realise that total copies sold and current active player-base count are different things? It is even stated in the article that they did not wish to provide real numbers for ESO active player-base. What a piece of joke Add-Shill article.

ESO had 8,5 million players in total. As a comparison, WoW had way more than 100 million players in total. ESO isnt successfull as well nowadays anymore. Next one to close the doors.
