I believe that Slayer is physically strong and immortal. Bedman fights using tricks and reality frames and was someone that Slayer didn't knew or expected to be strong. He didn't know how to deal with it and get directly to him. I believe that at some point Zato states that if Slayer gets directly into Bedman, bypassing his dream reality or something like that, he would beat him to a trash.
Gabriel is the only character in GG storyline that Slayer acknowledges as his equal and rival. He always has been a big deal of a character.
It is stated, that Potemkin learned to fight from Gabriel
I wouldn't wonder if he appears as a playable Char one Day :)
