Is GGX mashing your potato? "performance tweaks"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make sure the PC is in performance mode in power options.

Go to the nvidia/ati control panel and make a quality or performance preset for guilty gear.
Also check to make sure the game is using the right video card, i've heard on some systems the game will default to the "economy" graphics card.

These alone will help more current systems to play the game without .ini tweaks. ini tweaks are a last ditch effort to play a game on a weaker systems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the unreal engine 3, so its highly tweakable to run on the most feeble of systems.

The .ini is located in the steam common files/guiltygearxrd/redgame/config/ redsystemsetting.ini
Within this .ini you'll be able to adjust settings that may help get a few potatos and toasters to achieve the glorified constant 60 FPS. You want 60fps, a constant 60fps. A knight in shining 60fps that never wavers .... from 60fps.

-----Disclaimer-----
Backup your ini file, always back it up. Also understand that all of this may be incorrect so dont get butthurt, feelsbadman, or go all chris crocker. As usual, you can google each setting to be more sure of the changes when its altered. Sometimes settings are better left on. Also all of what i've listed are true/false, there are other settings that are tweakable but they deal with numbers ......aint nobody got time for that! but maybe you do!

--Going by information from other unreal engine tweaks the biggest performance gains will come from setting ambiant occlusion, dynamic shadows and fog volumes to "False" then setting DetailMode to 0, but it seems 1 or 2 gives better performance in this game. Changing these 4 settings gave me a stable constant 60fps.--

Here are some other settings that can be altered for perfomance gains, mind you there are loads more but im either ignorant of how/what to change them to or ...... i just dont have the attention span for it. So lets look at this beast!

StaticDecals=True
DynamicDecals=True
UnbatchedDecals=True
cpu,ram and gpu dependent, setting these to false will possibly gain fps but will remove eye candy from effects and/or background!

DynamicLights=True
putting this to false will save a few more fps but will make the floor entirely black "unlit" pretty ugly but it may be needed for some.

DynamicShadows=True
LightEnvironmentShadows=True
CompositeDynamicLights=True
SHSecondaryLighting=True
DirectionalLightmaps=True
Shadows and lights, the classic killer of fps. Setting these to false will save even more fps, paper bags are cheap and were made to cure butterface!

MotionBlur=True
DepthOfField=True
AmbientOcclusion=True
Bloom=True
bAllowLightShafts=True
Distortion=True
FilteredDistortion=True
DropParticleDistortion=True
More eye candy and the bus driver uppercut to the face ambientocclusion, setting these to false for the fps!

SpeedTreeLeaves=True
SpeedTreeFronds=True
This is for plant life, setting to false gives the finger to tree huggers, highly recommended!

LensFlares=True
FogVolumes=True
FloatingPointRenderTargets=True
Oh fogvolumes, the destroyer of worlds! we meet again! setting these to "False" gets us closer to the holy grail!

UseVsync=True
This looks questionable, a wolf in sheeps clothing. Maybe "False"?

AllowRadialBlur=True
AllowSubsurfaceScattering=True
AllowImageReflections=True
AllowImageReflectionShadowing=True
bAllowSeparateTranslucency=True
bAllowPostprocessMLAA=True
bAllowHighQualityMaterials=True
What is this? the evildead against potatos? "False"!

bAllowD3D9MSAA=True
bAllowTemporalAA=True
AA, the dragons breath! Save the fps! "False"

bEnableForegroundShadowsOnWorld=True
bEnableForegroundSelfShadowing=True
The darkness! Quick, give it the finger as hard as you can! "False"

text wall crit!
Post to big, did not read!

----------------------------------------CODENAME:EMPI----------------------------------------------
----------------------------"experimental max performance ini"-----------------------------------
--------------This isnt the greatest ini in the world, this is just a tribute.-----------------

ini download link from google drive
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_ooWrzNQ8o0ZDJFRzZiSnl6ajA

It seems setting detail mode to 1 is getting better performance than 0, updated download link.

Disabling Backgrounds via information from user grizzlywolf----"Go to SteamApps\common\GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN-\Engine\Config and delete basesystemsettings.ini." I dont recommend deleting it but rather moving it to a backup folder or dropping it on the desktop just incase.

Thanks, now I could understand the fine points on which slides of the file I want to toggle.

This topic is great, love the humour alongside the useful information. Any chance of some comparison screenshots of the default game settings Vs some of these settings disabled? I'm particularly curious about disabling everything except making the floor black.

THANKS A TON, MATE!

Perhaps I'll pin this up for now while we're working on it.

I'm playing on a notebook with regular specs that doesn't -usually- give me trouble with games. Got 40fps by setting most stuff except reflections to false. Seems playable enough now.

what do i need to type to get the graphics from ps3 up to ps4?
Umbra Dec 11, 2015 @ 3:16am
Tried this out and set the graphics card to pick application settings. No better than going through the graphics control panel. Worse, even.

thanks for the tips! game runs perfectly fine @60fps now even on my sp2 with 4gbyte ram, i5@2.5ghz and intel hd4200.

Wanna go all out on those settings? Check this guide that I recommend for every UE3 game, it's specifically for Borderlands 2, but it should work with GGXrd too! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=261135967
Oddness Dec 11, 2015 @ 7:05am
Did this and it improved the experience to stable 60 fps to me. Still a crawling memory leak but way less and that is also fixable with disconnect and connect usb device.

I've heard people lowering settings like this having an error where, whenever millia crouches, the screen turns brown, i even saw a pic about it. Do you know anything about this? I'm thinking of buying it.
