GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN-

GUILTY GEAR Xrd -SIGN-

What GG games to start with?
I just got a bunch of GG games in a bundle, and I'm looking for a play order.

Since I'm sure most of the player population is going to be in the most recent game (Rev2 until Strive comes out), my goal is to get the story content and familiarize myself with the gameplay systems.

My plan was to play SIGN for the stories, and then move on to Rev. The stories continue, right? I don't think I'd be losing out on any gameplay features from one game to the next, and the skills I'm learning / practicing will probably transfer.

Am I missing anything important here? Are any of the other GG games on the Humble Bundle hidden gems that I need to try out?

The order for story game wise is

Guilty Gear
Guilty Gear X
Guilty Gear XX
Guilty Gear 2 Overture
Guilty Gear Vastedge XT
Guilty Gear Xrd Sign
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
Guilty Gear Strive

There are also games in between like X plus , XX# Reload , Accent Core plus R , etc. Then theres all the other stuff we never got in the west like drama cds , novels , and manga. GG plus R is pretty active online and is different gameplay wise from Rev2. Strive is pretty different as well (played the beta on ps4) so while some skills might transfer over they are all different beast. Hope this helped.

I got the same bundle you bought i'm assuming. i looked into this myself. if you want to get caught up on the story you'e going to need to look up lore videos on youtube. there isn't anyway around it outside of reading books and listening to drama cds that aren't even in English. I say stop watching the lore videos when they get to Xrd-Sign so you can play it your self. you WILL NOT understand anything that happening in Sign if you don't look up the lore: example of a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIjtNL7Pfqw&t=1s

also play every person in Arcade before starting the story mode in Sign because its a prequel to the story

i watched some lore videos, started playing Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, the last revision of Guilty gear XX. i downloaded Xrd Sign and Rev 2 . a NUMBER of people have said skip overture because it's not even a fighting game so i didn't even download it

I agree with pretty much everything you said, except that GG2O is very important to Xrd since it adds characters and concepts not explored in previous games (Valentines, the Backyard, Dr. Paradigm, Sin Kyske...). If you've watched lore videos, chances are you already know about what there is to know, but I'd argue it's a central piece in GG's story. Also, it might not be a fighting game but its gameplay is pretty unique, so I'd still recommend to try it out and see if you like it or not.

Pretty much. I just want to add that Guilty Gear X Plus is pretty much the definitive edition of GGX (but it never made its way to the West), Guilty Gear XX can be split in two parts (pre-Accent Core, with GGXX Slash being the latest yet untranslated entry, then Accent Core with AC+R being the most complete release), and Guilty Gear Vastedge is a pachi-slot game that's canon but that barely anyone knows anything about.
