Food AI for juvie Carnivore
I've no problem in survival mode as a herbie, but every time I play carnivore I starve. I've seen ONE AI dino small enough to chomp as a juvie carnivore. How the heck and where the heck do I find more? I use my scent ability and nada...no tracks, no nothing. Also, how do I tell the noise a taco or some other AI food source makes as opposed to the usual ambient birds and chirps and noise?

i wounder that too, and even when i create a game, the amount of AI's is just nowhere..
Yeah, at least on Dev servers. I've played some Sandbox servers marked High AI and found some, but on official servers nada.

I can confirm this i have tried playing as carnivore three times now and i end up starving to death because of literal no NPC dinos around. Playing for a few hours i have come across 2 Dino NPCs to chew on. This needs to be addressed asap on the official servers.

Makes it very difficult to do anything without a pack. I feel like they need to change the mechanics a bit for spawning.

The maps are so huge that I often cannot even find most players without the help of chat. A smaller map option would be nice. Maybe it could have plains (something I don't seem to see in the other maps very often?), and then a stream up in a more mountainous area which leads to a lake where then another stream stems from the pond and forks into a river which goes into the ocean or something, and then a few other watering holes scattered around the map (not too many though). Having droughts/floods in the game would also be fantastic. It might force players to actually find each other by bringing them into a smaller concentration of the map. And droughts would also do that too, bringing players to find the last remaining watering hole(s) and possibly add conflict. Of course it would make it harder to survive, but you do have the ability to scent. Having this stuff along with a smaller map will PROBABLY make it more realistic and also make the game more fun. I mean most of the areas in the game seem quite lifeless? The map is just so big and the player count too small to even fill up many of the areas.

Frost Bear - Thenyaw (not including DevMap) is currently the smallest map. I recommend looking for servers with a higher player-count before making a decision of the map being too big.

Gingusa - There's currently only 1 carnivorous AI and it doesn't do all that much damage.
Unless you were still a juvenile which makes sense that you can't take much on, you're basically still a baby so trying to fight anything is going to be a bad time. You need to hide, keep somewhere safe/run from carnivores and grow your dino.

AI spawns around carnivores, particularly if it's been in the same area for a while. There are certain areas they won't spawn however, if you're climbing mountains for example, you aren't likely to see them spawn at all.
A better explanation then would be: AI spawn near carnivores in certain locations. Water sources are your best bet.

(This prevents the map spawning too many AI across the map and crashing out.)
