The Isle

The Isle

Map is too big.
The heart of the problem in this game. I get we want players to have a chance to grow but grow and do what? Once you are full adult there is nothing to do except head to an area where others tend to go to die in a fight and die in a fight.

I'm starting to question whether there really is 100 people on a server when it says it. I've taken Deinos to out of the way lakes and they are just as unused and dead as the major rivers.

I've soared around as Pteranodon and while I do tend to see a few more people on Ptera from time to time I have never once encountered any number of people that made me say, wow, there is the critical mass of those 100 people on this server.

I've ran around pouncing as a baby raptor in east plains for hours on end for something to do and again, never do you see these large herds or packs. At best a few groups of a handful of people under the best of circumstances with scattered solo's here and there.

So if these numbers are true, where is everyone at?

The map needs to be shrunk 20, maybe 30 percent or alternatively double to triple the population. I love the diversity of it but from a functional game point of view it's too big. The AI is broken, many creatures simply can not hunt them and those that can, find the same boars, deer, and goat as opposed to something larger and at least semi capable of breaking the tedium and monotony.
Deino is spotted underwater by AI so save for the occasional glitch from the land versions and bullfrogs it can do nothing but attack fish which do not even provide the chance to practice surface attacks.

While more dinos to play as are nice in this case we need to go vertical, not horizontal. 50 playable dinos capped at 100 players on the same size map doesn't change anything.

The map really isn't the problem as it is an AI spawn and migration system problem. Fix those two and the map works very well. Also I do at times question if the server has 100 players on. Here are a few things I've noticed: Player count also includes those that are on the dino selection screen so maybe a few are afk on those for whatever reason, then we have a lot of croc players infesting the waters thus reducing land-based playercounts, and lastly is that there are plenty of groups for each dino.

The last part seems obvious of course but then we have to keep in mind that the player limit is 100 and we have a lot of different dinos to pick and form packs with. Yesterday I was just unlucky af with dying as I got to play Teno, Pachy, Galli, Steg, Omni, Dilo, Herrera, and Troodon(this one is still alive after a few hours). Before each death I found a group every time composed of at least 4(except Steg that was a duo before I came in).

Also keep in mind that there is like 15 or so dinos to choose from. Groups normally go from 3 to 10(Croc only gets 2). There is also differing groups of the same dino running around, and this is not even counting those doing the game solo or that just spawned in.
