Hordetesting is on again for another round of updates
For those that want to test out new features and mechanics Hordetesting is open, report all bugs you find (there will be a LOT), and make suggestions in the official discord.. everything is subject to change.. have fun!


Once again, it's time to swarm the Hordetesting branch! Below this post are outlined the most notable changes.

- Starting hunger set at 100%
- Stomach contents no longer scale with player growth. This means the faster an animal - grows and mass increases, the more food they will need to maintain themselves as their stomach expands
- Players can set an active nutrient on their status menu. Active nutrients are what gets altered by environmental factors such as Salt Licks and other nutrient drains
- Salt Licks now drain a player's an active nutrient
- Salt Licks now properly cure vomit sickness
- Buffs immediately apply on nutrient intake and the buff strength is proportionate to the amount of total nutrients consumed
- Ceratosaurus manual vomit now decay corpses substantially faster based on the weight of a corpse
- Corpse food values have been updated
- Plant food values have been updated
- Stegosaurus tail impale attack has been moved to the directional controls
- Stegosaurus power swing charge removed
- Elite fish have updated fleeing logic and will also occasionally hunt smaller players (including full grown Beipis. This wasn't originally intended but it's Friday and it's fun time. Just DODGE! Will be adjusted next HT update)
- Port location has been extended (Vegetation has been temporarily stripped away)
- Eggs gestation has been added on the nest menu. Gestating Eggs is required for laying eggs
- Egg Gestation require a mother to expend both 5% food and 5% of any nutrient per egg on the nest screen. This will gestate an egg over 5 minutes (Does not require an active nest or bonded partner)
- If an animal actively gestating eggs is killed, their eggs are contained within the corpse and are edible by carnivores and omnivores
- Egg incubation is 5 minutes for all animals
- Eggs can now be scented
- Eggs can now be picked up and stolen from a nest to be eaten
- Several mutations have had functionality adjustments to make their utility more useful and descriptions updated

Some notes about bugs we're aware of:
Distance textures and blending has been temporarily disabled
Scavengers temporarily disabled
A particular building or part of it may suddenly become a metal texture. This has been patched for next week

Eggs being scentable is going to be a problem if this includes when they are in the nest itself. It seems like nesting is being built up to be something that takes even more effort so having the eggs be smellable pretty much will doom a lot of nests if the eggs are scentible while in the nest. After all a player doesn't have to kill the parents to ruin the nesting attempt. They just have to be fast enough to zip by and steal the eggs one by one.

So if we start on a full stomach (if I’m reading that correctly), then how can we get nutrients early on?

The stomach seems to drain quickly, but you only need a fraction of your nutrients to get close to 100% growth, and its possible to go over 100%

Keep in mind this is just testing of concepts and everything is subject to change

Hey Islanders,

We're deploying a new build to the hordetesting branch. You may need to restart your Steam client if the download does not make itself immediately available to download.
Changes:

Fixed Harbor buildings materials
Fixed vomit not properly reducing nutrient amount
Reduced AI Spawn intervals
Avoid dino zombies to turn into a skeleton
Avoid dino zombies to damage one another

i played Dibble and i could keep my growth to 65-85%
so i grew pretty fast.
the only problem would be if there are 5 big herbies in thesame place....food will become a problem because we have to eat alot!

How about fixing core issues? Such as Diablos being able to land a hit from 10ft away? Or fix your unstuck command feature? Got stuck on a rock. Used /unstuck and it then placed me inside the rock. Then couldnt use the command again for another 572 seconds, which still failed to unstuck me. Or how about you fix the spawning? The new random spawn is dumb and it wastes people’s time. Secondly, limiting certain herbivores spawn choices is another dumb idea, especially when carnivores can spawn anywhere. Also, stamina drain needs tweaked. In reality, animals using four legs to run burn through their stamina faster than bipedal animals

ouch !! you must hate this game XD.....i only said 1 problem.....and i'm sure it will be taken care off .

you brought up alot of things....but i have such less issues than you...why is that??

i guess some ppl are more negativei must be more positive right??

The dreaded food stuck to your face bug has made a return. Other then that though in terms of concepts so far I am liking the changes to the diet system. It's simpler and simpler is better I think. Though I don't seem to be able to deactivate the activated diet (can only select a different one instead), the selection doesn't seem to do anything and I haven't yet figured out how to start an egg gestating.

Found a bug. Pteranodon can't get three dots from fish like it's suppose to.
