I've lost full grown Deinos in 2 vs 1 situations worth 60 hours of playtime, maybe more. I don't play them anymore.
As PieceOfPeace said its a waste of time playing it if you do not have one or a couple of friends that are willing to play whenever you feel like playing. Without that even if you survive to 100% as a solo you WILL simply die to one of the groups of Deinos who do play like its DayZ grouping up and killing anything and everything that is not in their group. "loot/food" does not matter, you are dead the moment they see or hear you because you are at least a 1% threat so they have to kill you.
They are also bored out of their minds since the only thing that is a challenge is another group of Deinos as long as they stay in the water so the knowledge that they killed your 100% Deino and probably at least somewhat ruined your evening is the best content they can get in the game.
That about sums it up yeah. Honestly, this game needs AI dinos roaming around to give people stuff to fight and eat or die to. It will help fill up the map and make it not so boring.
As a Deino you can't go everywhere where there are small lakes. Growing time is far too long. Too many idiots who kill just for fun. In real life they are losers who have nothing else. And mostly big cowards. It's really like that. I met one once.
1. The main water sources aren't connected which means it's much easier for other playables to just avoid Deinos. Yes, I know you can reach south plains river as a croc as well but it's still a hassle.
2. There are many tiny puddles that you can drink from.
3. Pretty much every lake or swamp has countless shallow spots where it's completely safe to drink. I can't even remember when I died to a croc ambush the last time simply because I know the spots and abuse them.
This makes it even harder to actually catch anything which results in even more cannibalism. I played as a solo croc on Spiro for a long time and it has always been rough but Gateway really made me stop playing Deino completely.
