Whats that teardrop-icon on the scent compass?

As the title says, what does that icon mean? I first thought it might be updraft for the ptera? But i dont get any lift from it.

That's water to drink, but beware not to drink salt water on the coast or it will make you badly sick

it's water, and the up and down peaks are north and south respectively
