Gateway no ai?

I've now starved to death 6 times in a row in the gateway, are there no AI's yet? And what do these two dome-shaped symbols mean when I sniff, one with palm trees and one with footsteps. Do you have any tips? I don't understand Gateway.

I also just starved to death as Dilo because I couldn't find any prey except ONE frog. No calls, no other players, nothing. I basically just walked around and it's not like I wasn't paying close attention to my surroundings. I was fully grown, but only because I was able to gorge myself twice right at the spawn point. Outside of the "hotspot" there was nothing but emptiness. Let's see how the next rounds go.

its a pretty but poorly designed map sooooo yeah

I thought everyone was looking forward to this map x.x

This map MIIGHT help, it lets you see animal spawns

everyone was until i pointed that the random deathcliffs are still there, inexscapeable holes are still there, confusing and over grown jungles are still there. All of that stuff was said to not be in gateway yet it is....also they said you will be always able to see certain land marks which is a lie cause some areas you can not see any land marks at all....

i cant even find a gateway server or any official servers-

its currently a bad time since the herrera and dilo update, but the footsteps mean migration zone, theres more likely to be food there. idk the trees yet though. just wait, it will calm down. yesterday i couldnt join at all but today i got to join for awhile, we just gotta wait

i hung around in the middle of a migration zone for ages and all i could find was other dead herreras that starved or fell off a cliff

The devs have apparently switched the AI spawn to only spawn AI if there are X number of players around the area.

So basically if you are not playing in one of the hotzone deathmatch arena spots, get majorly F:ed.

Devs are also about to go on a LONG vacation, if they havent already, for having done such a great job the entire year so enjoy, the current state might last month/s before they even start working on it again.

Tested the ptera, I got lucky at the start and found a school and even a frog, then went around to all the spots I normally find fish, nothing, also no turtles or crabs, I normally know were to find them, I even went back to the spot I did find the first school and it was gone, also no teno calls or sightings

AI spawns are absolutely broken as of right now, I'm sure it will be fixed, but as of right now AI are extremely rare if at all

what i have noticed is that AI seems to spawn mainly on migration zones now... you might find one or two far from one but its unlikely... another thing but im not sure if its a bug or not they seem to spawn in groups of 3 (deer and goats) boars are the only ones i have seen on their own soo far...

The word on the reddit is that AI spawns are now based on number of players in the area, which makes sense with the very conflicting experiences people have, some think everything is fine because they mainly only play around the East side of the map and other well populated hotzones while anyone else preferring other locations on the map are F:ed with a big F.

More players = more stuff to eat, both players and AI.
Few players = nothing to eat, does not matter if its a spot you know should have AI or not, they simply do not spawn unless you can bring X number of other people nearby.
