It grows fast enough that you absolutely do not need or even want the +50% growth bonus because it will last longer than it takes to grow into a full adult and block any actual beneficial bonuses like the reduced stamina cost.
What you want is a diet of two 3 dots and the 2 stripes OR a S.
These are diets with a great mix of bonuses, 30% growth, -15% stamina cost+ 2 other bonuses depending on if you went with a 2 stripe or S, 2 stripe is better.
After growing it may or may not be worth letting the 2 stripe to decay and go full 3x 3 dot diet for the -25% stamina cost. Not really sure how the 3 3 2 diet with its 15% stamina decay decrease bonus actually works.
Anyway none of these nutrients are hard to get for a Ptera and I do not really understand the complaints for the stamina, are you using it like a rocket or something? We have liftoff! SWOOSH STRAIGHT UP + SPRINT! ?
If people fly it like a somewhat heavy bird(it is) with a slow incline in height basically just tapping the Up button every now and then(use the wings pace if you find this hard) and go almost anywhere you want. I mean yeah if you are down in swamp and want to go up to the top of the cliffs around it it will take some doing but I think thats within a reasonable expectation that it will take a some effort to get there.
The amazing thing with Ptera is that once you get to a height you like, you can hold the sprint button for like 1-2 seconds and then as long as you do not try to gain any more height you will keep most of that sprint speed while gliding.
Ptera is/can be super efficient with its stamina compared to every other dino.
Ptera was my favorite dino to play, you used to be able to make sharp turns and fly very long , but all that is gone. I cant play ptera anymore it litteraly makes me cry how bad it has become.
I honestly dont see them ever changing that back cause many people were killed by pteras as full grown carnos for example. The sad thing is its so easy to counter a ptera, just walk up a hill and make it climb and make it use its stamina to get to you.
i dont even care about the stamina thing, sure you have to wait like 6 minutes for the stam to recharge. The flying itsself is the bad part, it got changed so dramatically that it just doesnt feel right anymore. Its like taking away half the fun of the dino.
My last Ptera seemed to be bugged and I couldn't get the 3 dot hex diet. Ate three or four fish and the last hex just would not light up and my stomach filled without that last chunk of hex ever completing.
I've seen other dinos on other players get similar bugs with diet, so its not exclusive to Ptera, but its pretty disheartening when your only option to diminishing the impact of the stamina consumption flat out doesn't work.
Might have to change my recommended diets now after the update though, noticed the 3 dots seem to improve stamina REGENERATION on top of the sprint/swim stamina use reduction.. so 3 dots is probably going to be the super meta diet for every dino again.
...as a side note I am not a fan of the changes on the west side of the map, removing the Southwest Access river and replacing it with a little pond that has no fish or frogs in it seems highly questionable for a region of the map that was already almost entirely empty of both AI and players.
There are no crabs or turtles on the beaches around there now either, great Ptera spawn location lol.
I highly agree on that!! My second Ptera Run was a desaster from the get go after spawning there. It was ok, till it got sooo dark, that I could not see anything.
I personally had not so much struggle with the Stam so far. But I agree that 5 Minutes is harsh, and considering that Ptera is lightweight, it should not be punished so much. I would radically reduce the stam costs of everything to a fraction of it what it concurrently is.
Have no problem to wait 5 minutes, if it means that I can be air borne and active for a long, long ... and i mean VERY looong time without the need for me to tap into my skill of several 100 hours as ptera main to do so efficiently.
From ~43% stamina it took just over 2 minutes to get to 100% while resting. Considering that it used to take just about 4 minutes to regen 0-100% in the previous update it does not seem like the devs really did that much with increasing the regeneration.
I mean going from ~50% every 2 minutes to ~57% every 2 minutes using a +25% bonus thats not all that great, to the point that you have to start to wonder if they actually made base regeneration even slower to make the +25% bonus just slightly faster than the previous regen?
