Thrashing the corpses

i for the life of me, cannot thrash corpses for the body parts. i know im supposed to left click and shake the mouse.. been this way since the release of the feature. so im wondering whats the setting in keybindings for it? or any other settings i can look into?

I have no experience with corpse thrashing, let alone playing the game enough. But I do wonder the size difference between your dinosaur and the corpse. From what I've seen, if you are even just slightly smaller than the corpse, you won't be able to thrash it. Maybe that's issue?

So I guess what should be asked is what size is your dinosaur and what is it that you are trying to thrash?

If you can drag the body but it is almost the same size as you, you cannot thrash it. You need to drop it, position yourself to bite (grab) chunks out of the abdomen till it starts pulling out organs. You can drop the meat chunks till you start getting organs, then eat them later.
In order to thrash the body, you have to be significantly larger than the corpse.

Fully grown deino, ect ect. i know the size matters, my friends that are smaller than me can thrash bodys. just me that can't xD

Try this, its a solution to a lot of control issues, so why not

Delete your Config file, this will reset settings/controls and may improve performance:

Open file explorer > put %localappdata% in the ADDRESS bar, press enter, then find The Isle folder (the isle game should NOT be running) then > Save folder then > Delete Config > restart game

Been a while since I did it but are you really supposed to left click?
Anyway I remember I had trouble doing it until I started waving the mouse with increasing speed until it triggered rather than quickly shaking as fast as I could.

it's hold both mouse buttons and then shake the mouse left and right, not just the left one
That is if you are big enough to pick it up with your mouth.
If not just bite down the body (sometimes you have to hit a specific spot) it will start to look progressively more decayed until you can see organs sticking out. After that you grab them and eat them

I usually dont use this since I try to hunt dinos that are on my diet that I want but thinking of this thread I tested it a bit again.

Grab body, hold left mouse button(bite) -> shake mouse left/right(not TOO fast).

If it does not work I would question if you are large enough to do it, last night I played as a Troodon and stabbed a Ptera in the back while it was drinking. While I was large enough that I could grab the body by HOLDING the grab button I was not large enough to thresh it.

So I am thinking your problem perhaps is that either you have this issue where simply pressing the grab button wont pick up the body and instead grabs a piece of meat and you have to hold the button to grab it = cant thresh it because you are too small to properly grab it?

Well either way basically I have 3 things you could try:
1. The above press/hold grab button situation.
2. Maybe you are trying to thresh AI which afaik only the Teno AI have organs?
3. Maybe you have not changed the left mouse button ALT attack thingy in the options so when you left click the game thinks you are not doing the normal bites and that messes with it? I have not tested this so idk.

It sounds like you are either trying to thrash AI, which have no organs, so can't be thrashed. Or you need to go into the options and turn on, "Manual Alt Attack". If you don't have that option turned on, then when you left click it automatically does the Alt-Attack, instead of a normal bite.

They changed the mechanic anyway. Now you can just walk up to it and spam "E" until it opens up.

Pteras don't have organs.
