Near impossible to catch player dinos as Deino on new map

Title says it all. ♥♥♥♥ map for Deino.

Edit: Near impossible is an overreaction, but it takes longer to find prey, and half of the waterways are thin and shallow which allows them to jump over or swim across really quick. The couple of places where the water is deep and wide are nice but it's 2x a boring waiting game for prey in comparison to Spiro. Not to mention AI fish seem to be far and few between.

He just meant, that "ultimate power" was stating, that it is now more difficult for deinos, because there are safe drinking spots. And he likes it now in gateway.
The "there was litteraly no safe drinking spots" was referring to Spiro.

Your response to him was a bit off (because you thought he meant that gateway has no safe drinking spots).
Hence sherlock Kush tried to tell you exactly this.

OP probably has a decent point.
The map seems to almost be designed from the west side first without Deino in mind until the devs were done to the middle of the island, then someone at the office was like, "oh what about Deino?"

So they added a swamp and started creating a river delta in the east part of the map to allow Deino access to the map but it was too boring/much work to do the same with the already done west side, "let the Deino swim in the ocean around the island to get there or w/e!" and kept going.

Will have to mess around as a Deino myself to really say ofc but what I did see as a Ptera did not look all that great for them at least(thin rivers, mostly non-existing on the west side, weirdly steep river edges).


I mean I played a few hours today as a Ptera mainly on the west side learning the map and the only Deino I saw was over at the Water access/Dam.. which is in the center north part of the map, connected to said river delta and swamp. All the Deino calls I heard were also from the east side so I would guess I heard some in the swamp when I was in the SW spawn.

Actually very few players in general on the west side of the map, only saw other fellow Ptera and a few Omni so I guess even if a Deino did bother to go there they would probably starve unless the fish could sustain them.

I realize this is just a sample size of a few hours in a limited area on the map, on 1 server so I might change my mind but ye, what I have seen did not look all that great for Deinos.

Agreed, Deino feels like an afterthought. Outside of the mountain lake it's extremely annoying to get around and catch prey
