The Isle

The Isle

The Isle vs Path of Titans
So I have had the isle since it first hit the steam in 2015. I watched a fairly simple dino chat game. Turn into one of real horror and intrigue as one of the most believable dino experiences. Particularly the Jurassic Park approach the game held as an identity.

But now, since EVRIMA. A lot of that identity has changed for more modern looks on dinosaurs. Which is all good and fine. Though now that the isle is basically what other dino games are doing. It leaves me with the question of: What makes the isle different to path of titans?

Path of Titans has come a long way in the last year. Both visually and with content. If I watch comparison videos really there is little the isle has; that path of titans does not. Something that would not be true if the isle remained pre-evrima and continued to expand content. Path of titans even has more dinosaurs and engaging game mechanics for each dino. When I look at the isle I mostly just see delays and starting over from scratch. Instead of progress.

Other long time isle players. What are your thoughts about the two games? Is the isle better or worse than path of titans?

Personally, I had wished the isle would have reached its "jurassic park lost world" dino vs human survival direction it was heading pre-evrima. Now the isle, just seems like we are never going to see it fleshed out.

pot is more none time wasteful other than the isle in my opinion
The Isle is better. But without content it'll vanish and Path of Titans will win the competition.

PoT is an MMO with some survival aspects. Means you get quests and "money" to unlock skins. But it is a social game indeed. But has MMO elements like grouping, housing, questing, which The Isle don't plan on doing. So therefor I don't feel it's that competing with The Isle. Isn't The Isle supposed to have humans as well? And I saw some buildings in the devblogs. I've got both games, and I do enjoy both in their own way. They seem similar, but I don't think the end product will be so similar. I do like PoT better, as I like MMO elements and PvE more than PvP.

PoT is kinda competing with Draconia, which is another creature type open-world "MORPG", but that's with dragons. Has some of the same plans as PoT, it seems.
(And it iss 50% off right now)
I actually have Draconia! I haven't played it in a while, fun game otherwise though. By the way, The Isle wont be good for years, as the development is slow and features are missing; but PoT wont be good for long. Just wait and see!

The Isle succeeds in lore, and humans are on their way. We got a poor excuse of humans because the devs were pushed into making a release date, which they obviously weren't ready for. Time will give you what you want.
I dont know but humans have been planned since the first iterrations of the isle o.O
I've also been here since 2015. From what I've seen, PoT caters much more to casual birdbath players who used to enjoy early Isle, while Evrima has continued to add hardcore survival and horror aspects. They've moved in opposite directions from one another, and appeal to different aspects of the parent game.
POT looks like a circus, the engine they use is dahgshiznit
its really a game for children

I would say it's not as bad as you said, but yeah. The Isle is realistic.

I've followed The Isle since it was a post on Facebook talking about how there would be 3 different strains and different dinosaur classes. I had always hoped it would turn into that. After years of promising humans, cannibals, faction-based combat, I've never seen any of that come to fruition. The developmental lead being buddy-buddy with a sexual predator was the final straw for me.
What I can say, following Path of Titans, is that it's consistent on its updates and promises. Your time (and your wallet) is respected.

He was buddies with what. Is there anywhere I can look into that further?

Path of Titans all the way. The isle wins in graphics but as far as support/Gameplay and variety and content Path of titans is the way to go if you want to have fun and not get abused by hackers that admins do nothing about. where as Path of titans the cheaters are actually dealt with.

Unreal Engine 4 at its finest.
The Isle is a survival and has better combat mechanics, while in PoT dying doesn't matter and it's practically a VRChat of dinos
Fiance and I played The Isle first for years before we made the switch to Path of Titans. The graphics are an eye sore but you can use Reshade to edit it so it's not that big of a deal to me honestly. In the end, this is what it came down to for us:

The Isle has nice graphics and the survival of it is very nice. Really gives you the feeling of being out in the wild. However, we eventually got to the point where we would be waiting for an update, an update would come out 9-12 months later, we'd play for a week, then wait for the next update. The community was spotty for us at times but it's an online game.

We found out about Path of Titans about 6 months ago. Since we've been playing, there have been 6 updates. Each adding small balances and a dino every other patch. we've never ran into a server with less than 80 players ever and actually have been running into full lobbies since March non-stop. At first the low penalty for dying was fine as newbies but after a while, made it boring. Now that would normally kill it for us as well but this is where it shined for us more than anything: Community Servers (And mods).

We found a server that basically puts you back to baby status after you die, even as a full adult. The community was policed pretty well and even had the devs step in now and then for the past 3 weeks. They check the performance of modded dinos and have actually brought in a few in the past to the live game as a full functioning dino. The combat is kind of clunky but they're literally patching that in 2 weeks and the demo for the patch looks awesome already. The graphics are an eye sore at times but like I said, I just use Reshade and that fixes it for me. The quest system is a bit weird but on the community server, it pairs well with passive growth, much like how The Isle functions (without the perfect diet ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥). We've seen way more love by the devs put into this game in the past few weeks then we've ever seen The Isle devs put in ever.

The Official Servers on Path of Titan definitely are like what people have been saying here: Quests are weird, dying has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ penalty, and the community is often scuffed. But playing on a community server with rules that play to the way you want to play and mods to boot, Path of Titans has been a winner in our book and we've yet to put down that game a single week since we've started playing.

That is to say though, if The Isle actually commits to their promises and gets their stuff done, there's no question we'd be back.

...

A pretty great story and comparison. Yeah I think that is fairly true. Even in the isle, it best shines in private community servers with an active admin team and gameplay rule set. Otherwise its just chaos constantly.

Would you be willing to share your reshade profile for PoT?
