Cant grab fish or eat fish i killed

Playing as the water duck dude I cant eat anything in the water. I killed a catfish i assume it was and it was floating there with no option to eat. One time I saw a prompt show up saying press G to grab when i swam through a school of fish but pressing G never did anything.

Beipi can't eat the big fish. Just the schooling ones which you can grab by pressing G. Although it's not guaranteed to grab a fish everytime but since it's semi aquatic it has a higher chance of grabbing one.

you have to time it just right, another thing to do is to hold Q when you are anchored underwater to find crabs.

So you dont have to kill the schooling fish to grab one?

CTRL and RMB, or it was ALT + RMB when touching the river or lake floor.

Crabs do try to swim so you do also have to catch them with your beak. It still has the same mechanic but the crabs are a better readily source of food.

To answer Bear's statement for you, you do have to time and aim your LMB decently to get a fish from a school. What you can't do is grab the REALLY big fish, you can however grab a piece of meat off of them with "g" after they are dead, and then swim back to the surface or go to land in order to eat the morsel.

I litteraly just hold Ctrl after touching bottum to anchor and when picking fish from a school I litterally just attack the school and will auto-grab a fish. How does everyone else have a different set of instructions?

It's just configuring controls. I changed mine from default to what I have now for easier gameplay.
