2 call is meant to be friendly. Many groups do 2 calls to assess the situation of the other dinos they run into. You get some asshats but generally 2 dinos 2 calling are not allies, but may also ignore or temporarily help each other.
3 call is to threaten, this is outward aggression and you won't get favorable responses with it. Also adds some tension to the fight.
4 is a danger call you use to rapidly warn your allies. Some players are just stupid, and won't listen to a 4 call or immediately respond, but more wise veterans like myself are keyed to hear 4 calls and respond as quickly as possible.
