Reason #2: Pretty sure sub Rexs and sub Gigas are food for most med tier dinos for the majority of their life stages. Especially sub Giga. Sub Rex turns into a terrifying med tier killer toward the end of its life stage. Though we don't know if this is set in stone. And they are still vulnerable to their adult brethren and packs of smaller carnivores.
Reason #3: Chances are all subs eventually turn to adults. Adults are hella obvious and prime targets for packs of smaller carnivores. They can defend themselves sure. But one might prefer the option of escape, which is a luxury you don't have on an apex dinosaur. You are forced to stand your ground and fight for the life of your 6+hours time investment. Though if a pack is really going to commit to a fight you will probably go down eventually anyways.
Reason #4. Not everyone has the sole desire to be top of the food chain 24/7. Other creatures have their appeal for their own reasons. I main Carno and I laugh at Apexes when I slaughter their children while I circle around them.
Pack limit for non apex carnivores is unlimited on official, and between 6-12 on semi realism servers, so sub rex or gigas always can be killed by them. Yes, i know 4 -5 Apexes are hard to beat but that didnt happen to often in my experiences at least.
Besides, its not everyones first priority to have the strongest dino, ppl playin have different preferences and ways to enjoy the game.
I like playin Apex, but i also like playin herbis or smaller carnivores. I especially like playin herbi on more than 110 player servers, since the AI cant handle it sooner or later and it gets a russian roulette (especially for single dinos)
Currently to me the game seems quite well balanced (compared to the 3 patches before) and i hope the devs look wisely into further changes. However, we all must expect stat changes until the game gets closer to release date ofc.
