More playing a Herb does help ironically with Predator food supply, its just the game ecosystem working itself out, not enough Herbs and Preds will starve, when more play Herbs then the Preds will once again do well, and so on and so on, the boom and bust cycle of nature in a game
I have 2 full adult carnos, 1 adult stego, 2 adult deinos and am growing a pachy. Haven't had any issues finding food. What i see is bad players blaming the game for their lack of experience and skill. That's not bad game balancing, that's you just not being good at the game. If you couldn't starve, then there would be no point to having a hunger meter.
There are Ai literally all over the map. I have yet to fail to find plenty of AI. What is happening here (i know because i see you guys do it all the time and i used to when i first started playing) is that oyu guys spawn, then instantly start sprinting in whatever direction you were facing, you run aimlessly, through forests and jungles etc... passing no doubt half a dozen or more AI because you haven't bothered looking. You instead expect food to be spawned dead in front of you. Like ive said, this probably isn't your type of game if you whine about needing to hunt and eat.
I play carnivore all the time and hunger is fine. I don't find the game stressful nor do the 8 people i regularly play with. because we have put time into the game to learn the mechanics and get better at the game.
Adult carnos (what all of you are almost certainly picking because its what most new players immediately pick because they think its the closest thing to T-rex and theyll be able to kill everyone else and feel like a badass) need to eat regularly because they are very fast and very large animals. I find plenty of time to explore and mate etc.... You just need to pay attention to your hunger meter and be on the lookout for food as soon as it drops below 70%. I've not starved as of yet even as a full adult that needs massive amounts of food. And im by no means a super badass pro. I just bothered to learn how to play.
You're just not good at the game yet and are trying to blame your lack of skill on the game itself. I see it all the time. Pick a different animal if you think carno is too hard. The idea the most powerful and fastest apex predator needs to be made even easier so noobs can never have to learn how to play and can get the game on easy mode, is silly and that would be bad game balancing. And boring, btw. Everyone would quit after a week. If theres no challange, no struggle to survive, then the entire point of the game is moot.
Each animal has it's own pros and cons. Carnos con is it needs to eat often as an adult and its vulnerable to bleed. Thats just how it is and wont be changing.
No, it shouldn't. Dinosaurs weren't cold blooded reptiles like a crocodile or python who only need to eat once every3 weeks.. They were warm blooded with high metabolisms like mammals. A chicken wouldn't feed a small black bear for days. Dinosaurs would've been eating almost daily. Especially fast pursuit predators like utah raptors. Coyotes eat daily. one chicken wouldn't last a week.
But furthermore, this is a survival game. The point is to survive. Including finding food and catching it etc... If food was handed to predators they would A. never need to hunt real players, and B. the game would just be 99% full adult carnos and utahs running around doing team deathmatch because there'd be no struggle to become adult.. If you can't find ANY AI (almost impossible), then perhaps you have a server overstacked with carnivores who are eating all the AI. And just like in nature, if too many carnivores exist in one area and consume all the food sources, they start to starve.
You are either trolling or actually never played update 5. Please shut up.
Man, thanks for answering but as u can see i playeed this game for already almost 1.000 hours. I saw the entire evolution of the isle and i can say that the game change so much and not for better.... Before evrima. when it was the isle.. we had time not just for chill, but for explore the v2, v3 or thenyaw map, to make new friends, even to make some "realistic migrations" . Now this game become a battle royale of kill on sight (KOS). I can't enjoy this game when hunger goes down like 5% in less than 5 mins and i try to run, run, run, for no dying of starvation....
I know nothing will change with my stupid topic and our opionions but at least, if everyone do something...maybe this game will turn 180º and it will become enjoyable again :)
i got 2k gaming time.....and i still have probs..but 1 thing i know....if i need food, i Always go Centre......i play mostly 'unnofficial' but anywhere i go and there is 30 or more ppl ....center is where you need to be :-)
and yes, i still got a prob with finding ai some don't but they are out there...i've seen alot..only not when i was playing 1 dino XD
Player interaction heavily impacts how a dino eats, tho. Or, in techncial terms, how well the dietary system can function, bc it needs to play well with that too. Evrima's player interaction mechanics aren't finished yet, so, the dietary system see's some imbalance that it wouldn't normally have. Make sense? Like an iver-grouped mix herd of herbies for example. Instead of a balanced sized group made of w/e. <---rly changes how canries eat if they're hunting them.
When yer groups are legit groups, the challenges you face to eat are normal, or intended, and not skewed by an unfinished system. You "can" have a normal experience from time to time, but it's truthfully more luck than it should be ATM, haha.
Myself, I'm waiting for all that to come together so I can feel good about having a good experience when I play. It could be soon, or later on. Doesn't matter, I know the plan, and I enjoyed it in legacy. In the meantime, I have other games I play too.
Player servers could have admins to fill the gap in what's missing (if they had a good handle on what the official play is supposed to look like that is). They can't do that on officials, bc admins would get in the way, and testing the mechanics to replace them would be tough if they can't stand on their own?
