What did Dinosaurs sound like?
Interesting analysis on what Dinos actually sound like, and it isn't what many expect...

I think it will always be speculation, no matter how advanced. For example, if cats were extinct long time ago and we never saw a live cat, could we figure out meowing or purring sounds just from their fossils ? no freaking way.

Yeah I agree, its more about what type of sounds are possible based on physical traits, some sounds are impossible for some creatures because of their structure

that's my favorite thing about dinosaurs, nobody will truly know all the unique things about them. even things that are alive today have unexplained behaviors / traits.

I bet some of them danced silly to attract mates or scare off stuff. That's such a bird thing. I would be shocked if some of their ancestors didn't do it. So you get who knows what noises while who knows what dances are occurring. Plus some of them may have had crazy head crests or throat sacks (Like frigate birds).
Makes you really look back at some of the old depictions and realize how unimaginitive people were when they just made dinosaurs flat brown or green in recreations. It doesn't take knowledge of the bird relation either. Plenty of reptiles have all kinds of fun paturns.
Speaking of which....I wonder if any of the tiny ones tried to show off some random brightly colored part of themselves. Like the skinks and the blue tongue ones.
Some dinosaur; "LOOK AT MY FEET! I MIGHT BE POISONOUS! YOU DON'T KNOW!"
Maybe that's what some of the silly crests were for.

I loved yer vid btw, sry, wasn't trying to highjack there lol. :steamhappy: The sounds in that vid are quite ominous indeed! More tense, and terrifying than the JP stuff, IMO.

Here's a guide for the human players...*cough* lol

Too bad it doesn't have the club tail! That woulda been a game changer for the animal! Still, I'm sure it's tail didn't tickle when they swatted something with it lol.

It's now scientifically inaccurate for a Rex to be charging at me with anything other than the call of a Laughing Kookaburra. Devs, make it happen! :steammocking:

For your pleasure
Holy... those sounds are awesome, some of those vocalisations would be terrifying at night, I actually prefer them way over the Hollywood sounds we have been conditioned to associate with Dinosaurs.. thank you so much for this :)

No doubts saurian will be looking into these theories! The isle? They're definitely leaning in the hollywood movie monster direction. But, they also inject some realism in what they do too. A very basic kinda realism.

There's a humorous family guy video about the T-rex, and their short arms. I'd link that one, but it isn't appropriate for this forum.
