Any form of development towards such a map would be a huge waste of time. As a mod in the future, sure whatever. I guess some people just wanna sit at an oasis and chat with their friends. But that is not what this game is about
As for concealment, that would depend on the type of desert, rocky deserts, vegetated deserts, or sandy deserts, even in sandy deserts the dunes themselves act as a visible barrier if travelling below their peaks
