Second Rule to The Isle:
Not Even Your Own Species
Third Rule to The Isle:
Try Again.
You're going to get frustrated, but that's ok, never give up and learn from your mistakes. People will kill you, for resources or ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. This is okay. Your goal is to survive, that comes down to you first and them second.
With that out the way, there are two versions of the game Legacy (which is no longer being worked on) and Evrima (which is a little bare bones). You'll have to re-download to switch between them, but you can do this via right clicking the game in your library and picking Properties. It's even possible, from what I heard, to create a shortcut for one so you don't have to do this.
Now, the merits and demerits to either:
- Legacy
- More playables/content. Players are more familiar with it.
- Is not being developed, unbalanceable, and can be a buggy mess, also Chinese cheaters-lots of em
- Evrima
- More mechanics, a future of being developed and adding more playables/content.
- Also a buggy mess, slow development, and questionably balanced
.In Evirma the center is the most populated spot. For good reason. Most foods can be found there.
That wiggly line when you sniff is still a compass like Legacy. The up point is north and the down point is south.
Learn plains before you go deep into forests. Forests are get lost zones though they can be useful for loosing predators.
Make as little noise as possible when your a juivie. i have yet to be betrayed by anyone and so far all my encounters with my own kind have been great accept one carno that wasn't in my group and ate me as a baby carno. I normally play utah and have yet to try a herbavore.
It is a survival progression game and your a dino so do dino things.
Also as a new player discover oasis and be prepared for caos. I also play on an unofficial server for evrima called the zoo. Always a decent amount of people on and all generally helpful in your own species.
Heres what helped me the most :
1) Have a map always open when you play and put your localisation on it
if you play legacy : https://antroll.github.io/the-isle-info/map-v-three.html
if you play evrima : https://vulnona.com/game/the_isle/#side/cfg
2) Always plan to go or be close to a water source
3) Playing herbivore is more easy at start because :
-food is everywhere
-Herbivore are stronger in 1v1 on the evrima game
-I feel playing fast small herbivore such as gallimus or dryosaure are easier at begining. They can hide easily and they outrun most herbivore and carnivore. They are hard to catch. They are pretty safe.
-In evrima nothing can kill a dryosaure unless you get ambushed, hes fast , small and pretty agile. very safe dinosaure to start with and explore the game
4) If you feel very unsecure, localise water, drink, search food by pressing Q and hide. repeat until adult. In evrima you have to press Q longer to scent the food.
5) Playing carnivore is very rough, you are always hungry, you have to always search food, and everyone want to kiil you, herbivore as much as other carnivore. Also carnivore are weaker when you play solo
On legacy when you are hungry , ai spawn close to you, you can hear them : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8afdhcC7Z4U
On evrima : AI spawn twice a day, 80% of the ai is eated in 30 mins to 1 hour post spawn. So after that you have to find player to eat. Most people are in the center of the map around the oasis. Youc an log off and return when AI spawn if you are about to die. AI spawn at 18h30 and 6h30.
6) safe logg off
legacy : esc and wait the timer
evrima : press H and wait
7) die and repeat, you will learn what not to do.
8) if you play on evrima, i would say if you hear a pachycephalosaure or an utahraptor, run far away or hide, they are extremly aggressive towards anything that move. They mostly wanna kill everything, everytime, so at start try to avoid them. Tenon, dryo, stego and carnotaure are less dangerous, weaker and the players of theses dinosaurs are likely more friendly.
