Legacy isn't being worked on anymore, but it's a solid experience. And it comes with Evrima, which is essentially The Isle II. 2 games for one. Zero reason to not try Legacy over Evrima or vice/versa, you can switch at any time lol.
Evrima has a lot less content than Legacy, but what is there is generally more polished.
Legacy has a lot more quantity, but slightly less quality.
You will find more players on Legacy though. The Dry Reef is one of the most popular servers.
They are both easy to learn. On Legacy, if you need help, there is Global Chat to help you out. On Evrima, you largely have to learn on your own.
But unless you're playing as a Pteranodon, every dino is pretty easy to play and you simply learn by experience. Everyone sucks when they first start out.
Having other players knowing how to play their dino better than you isn't much of an advantage. There is no goal in the game, nothing to really do, besides try not to die. It's a very polished if barebones experience.
Evrima is getting better, but updates are extremely slow, so if you want to play on Legacy, you have plenty of time to enjoy it without fear of it getting deleted.

Don't waste your time on Legacy. It is not currently developped and will not be anymore. It is doomed to be deleted once the dev team decide it. Imo they should have done that a long time ago.
Evrima requires a decent amount of game knowledge and skill if you want to survive, understand what is going on, or just have the most fun.
But in order to do all that, you will need playing time, which you will not have if you're playing Legacy.
What I mean is, the longer you take to start playing Evrima, the most difficult things will be for you, especially with the addition of more and more content and mechanics.
Meanwhile, experienced Evrima players will be at a great advantage against you.

Biggest reason i don't like evrima is i can't test a dino before going survival, we don't learn to pvp on survival, we do it on instant grow servers...

I hate how long is the grow time on this game, food debuff just make it even worst and i can't even test combat without risk my char that take forever to grow...

I'm playing only legacy until they put sandbox on evrima...

They should have created a new game I think. Isle II for Evirma, a new experience for sure. I am not sure where they're getting all this money to continue development.


Evirma has Unofficial servers. Have you checked them out?

^^ They have always sold the game for $20, and they have 6 years worth of sales. They have millions of dollars. Plus, Dondi was fairly well off even before starting The Isle from saving up money from when he worked on Primal Carnage.
