Where is all the progress?
hey guys, I wanted to try out the game again after a year. I saw the gameplay with the Gaming Beaver and anthomia and though "great! so much new content!" but any server I join seems to be at the exact same stage as a year ago. Teutonic survival for example. I didnt notice any change.

Anybody have an explanation for me? Is there a server I can play at with all the new features enabled?

As for recent news the best place to look is The Isle News Updates channel on YouTube. They've been pretty busy this week, but generally post 2-3 videos each week.

Well there is the Evrima branch. The instructions to join are stickied i believe.

The game sadly doesn't have any meaningful game loops yet. Diets are coming soon and much later perks. Those 2 things will be the start of an actual game.

The code on the legacy version (original) was broken and couldn't be updated anymore so they had to make a new version in order to keep on updating. Everytime they would update legacy it would just break even more.

Legacy still has a community tied to it. Update 5 is bringing in Nesting and Skin Customization, which will be the final things Legacy has that Evrima doesn’t short of the roster, so expect Legacy to be removed some time after.

The roster alone isn't enough to justify keeping Legacy after all the core elements have been brought to Evrima. The majority of Legacy dinos are "Different Stat and Growth Time" with only a few having something unique about them, and even then most of these differences aren't worth mentioning. The combat is simplistic and there's nothing to do until you're an adult. With Update 4 giving us the gameplay loop that's always been absent and with combat already having more substance than what we had Evrima is far from "bare bones" in comparison.

If they did that this game would die overnight. NOBODY plays Evrima. Check the servers. They are always empty. Everyone still plays legacy because it's actually fun and has all the dinos we actually want to play as. Check the servers. Most of them are always full.

The core mechanics are also not enough to justify axing Legacy after Update 5 or 6.

Sad truth is people don't care about mechanics unless those mechanics are tied to the dinosaur they actually want to play. The majority of the playerbase consists of midtier and apex mains... none of which are in Evrima yet aside from the extremely niche Deinosuchus and poor excuse of a Stegosaurus.

People just, don't care if a Utahraptor has a specific diet. They want their Allosaurus, Maiasaura, Tyrannosaurus, Suchomimus, Triceratops, Parasaurolophus Giganotosaurus... those are the popular animals people actually give a ♥♥♥♥ about and those animals are what will bring the Legacy playerbase into Evrima. If what they cared about was mechanics over animals, Evrima would have a stronger playerbase by now.

This isn't to say that they should just bring animals in by the dozens. Mechanics should come first, but they're not going to be what allows them to kill Legacy.

This is all true when thinking back on how herbivores got more play when the popular ones received buffs.

And I am an Allo main.

That said, I think Pachy is going to hit hard when it comes to Evrima. Assuming this time around it'll atleast be decent when confronting Utah.
